Now the real good question. can i drive the car for a couple days without the MAF sensor wires on the maf? I cleaned it, and does the same thing and threw the p0102 code at me this time when it was not connected. Am I able to drive it without the maf wires on it? It starts up fine without it hooked up, but with it hooked up it just dies right away. Need to order a new maf sensor or get one from junkyard on monday. Not sure what im going to do but my other 2004 prix someone wants to come and buy it for 3500$, which is a good payday for me.

I put the maf sensor in(after i cleaned it), got it to run but not stay running with it plugged in, i had to keep on the gas a little to keep it running. Was smoking like crazy, like you seafoamed it through the intake. I unplugged it and had worse results, kindy of just the same right when it started doing this, hardly running, and when it did ran like really bad, like whole front end was shaking. Ill try again tomorrow afternoon want to get it to atleast run okay before i sell the other car so i know i can drive it for a day or two before getting the difference sensor. A aftermarket one is not a good idea? Would it last me a few thousand miles atleast?

you can drive it with the maf unplugged, just dont go beating the tar out of it. its running on pre set settings, default if you will.

NO aftermarket mafs, they suck bad. id see if you have a warranty on the delco you just bought. thats a early death for new maf.

if not get one from a junk yard or off ebay used.

I didnt get very far on ebay looking, do you know the product code for the ac delco ones in the 2001 3800 non supercharged? I didn't really find anything under maf sensor on ebay, and the junkyard was closed today when i called, 2 minutes late on their closing time. Ill have to go there on monday or order one on ebay as soon as i get the product code on it. I called napa, they have a 12k, 1 year warranty on them. I bought mine in may of 2013, so im 6 months over on the warranty.
