The price difference between 225/55/17 and 245/50/17 is why I am not running my Konig Villains on my Grand Prix.

if your stock ride height, theres gonna be some gap seen.
my snow tires and wheels are 225 50 17.
the fronts in this pic are 50's the rears are 45's i now have a full set of 50's 55's are the closest to a stock tires size.
255 MT Streets for me :P 16 in
Yal think a 245/50 will fit or 245/50? 245/55 might rub
245/55 is way too tall. Almost an inch taller than stock.
245/50 is almost identical to stock height at 26.65"

I did click the link. He is asking about 245/50 and 245/55. Your comparo is for 225/50 and 225/55.
225/55/17 is stock height at 26.74". 245/50/17 is very close to that height at 26.65".
225/50/17 is only 25.86".
245/55/17 is 27.61"
I know exactly what the numbers mean, do you? Hell I have a sticky that I posted that tells people how to calculate your tire size.
55 is not the height. 55 is a percentage of the width that determines the height.
245 is the width in millimeters. Divide that by 25.4 to convert to inches.
245/25.4=9.65" wide
To determine the height you multiply that by .55, multiply by two and add the rim diameter.
((9.65 x .55) x 2) + 17 = 27.62"
245/50/17
((9.65 x .50) x 2) + 17 = 26.65"
225/50/17
((8.86 x .50) x 2) +17 = 25.86"
Notice how the width changes the height?
that link makes it easy. you can see the side by side numbers. 50 are still shorter, not taller. i looked up 235, and 245.
trust me, if i had to do math id never buy tires. i aint got time for all that.
Scotty if you click on your link you checked 225.
The fact is he asked about 245/55 fitting in place of 245/50. The fact is 245/50 is close to stock height and 245/55 is an inch too tall.
The math used is ridiculous though. I don't see why they can't be like some truck tires, like 31x10.50/15. It's 31" tall, 10.5" wide, and fits a 15" rim. It doesn't take a calculator to figure it out that way. LOL
http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/tir...0r16-245-50r17 thats 0.1% difference. or 2 mm taller than stock.
Stealthee I clearly understand what your saying, actually I understood the first post you wrote on this thread. What I'm trying to clarify is that my car doesn't sit stock height by a long shot. My car clearly sits a couple inches lower than stock height, that's why I was unsure if the 245/50s would fit.
My GS sitting next to my LS I can clearly see that my GS sits lower. Now 245/50s should fit stock height but will it fit my GS beings though it's stance is a lil lower?
Current tires are 225/55/17 as it sits now
The only issue you might have would be with width. The height will not be an issue as it is almost identical.
