Not a day goes by when I ask myself why I like my car/the 3800 platform so much... I don't really know why at first, but I dwell on it some more and after the initial hate I think to myself, hey... It looks good, is cheap to maintain if you know how to work with tools, is fuel efficient for its size and comfort, takes 87, has its quirks but in general they're good cars. You just can't be comparing them to modern stuff. Most of our cars are over 10 years old now, in a time where tech advances quicker than my beard grows.
easy to work on unless your trying to pull plug wires, WHICH GET SHREDDED almost every time (dielectric grease is bull**** on these cars). Also, try being boosted and finding "true" 93 so you dont knock while boosted and modded (tune depending). Although ill give you the fact that the car looks good. Not alot of people mod these cars and they LOOK original as far as modding goes. i still hate my 13 sec car.
Just remove the spring boots and I have no issues with plug wires.I don't have any grease on anything in the ignition system. :P But yeah, being not boosted I guess the perk is 87, but at least you have a 13 second car... I think I'd be lucky to be in the 15 second range. As for looks, as long as they're kept up, they don't look too out of date next to some modern cars. I think they look very sleek. Especially the Bonnevilles and the GTPs.
Soooooo....if you hate it so much, why did you buy it? If you wanted something "fast" and that could corner better, why didn't you buy something "fast" and that could corner better?
I LOVE my '01 GT. I love the looks of it, and I love the fact that if you maintain the motor, it's pretty bullet proof and will last forever...and it's pretty easy to work on (compared to the 3.4 in my wife's old Montana). Comfortable car that looks great, sounds great, and gets good mileage for it's age/size. Definitely not a race car, but I don't WANT a race car...that's why I got a Grand Prix...
If you have issues with plug wires every time..then maybe we can give you suggestions on how to remove them better. Because they shouldn't be that hard on any car.
i bought it off my stepmother for trade in value. It was worth it. Where I fell short was when i spent money on it to make it something its not.
All in all its a decent car, it's just not what i want it to be.
