I am looking to grab a little extra hp out of my 98 gtp without spending huge dollars. I currently have a K&N cone filter from intense racing with a heat box on it, new plugs and plug wires, a 180* t-stat, 3"downpipe, and theres no cat on the car anymore. ive read that these are the basic things needed for the 3.4 pulley to go on the car but I realize there will need to be some additional tuning done to the car if I go with the 3.4 pulley so I was looking into the reprogramed intense racing pcm to handle the tuning issues. Am I going in the right direction, is my car ready for the 3.4 pulley with this pcm, is there anything else I need to do to make this 3.4 system work, and is there anything else I can do on a tight budget to grap more hp? Any help would be appreciated!!!

Get headers and a custom tune. Where in Wisconsin are you from?

Yep, I ran across the "Safely modding" thread well before joining this site. Not to mention, it is the FIRST LINK in the Introduction:

Sorry NIKGTP98, welcome to the Forum. The info is all here if you just read. If it's not, or you're unclear on something, then ask away.

First hit on Google when you type in 3800 modding, second when you type in 3800 mods, 5 when you type in 3800 pulley drop, 5 3800 performance mods.

With the cat cut off and the downpipe on the car and the resignator still on it, is there sufficient flow in the exhaust to run the 3.4 pulley without problems? I have a set of turbo mufflers to put on the car as well, will that improve flow at all?

    To me, no.

    To many others, no.

You still have the stock front manifold which is very restrictive.

Mufflers add zero flow, anything after the downpipe will do nothing for you.

Read up on that thread posted and you'll figure it out.

You dont want a chipped piston do you?

the front exhaust pipes on the engine all flow into one pipe, where aftermarker headers all flow in their own individual pipes up till the crossover i believe, creating better flow. Mufflers really wont affect flow and a 3in DP wont be enough. Sure it'll run, but not very well. It is even possible to run worse if you're kr is high cause of the restrictive flow.

    Quit getting pulley envy, bucko.

Otherwise, you'll be getting good at pulling a 3800 like I did.
