Sadly...today marked the end of the motor. 204,9XX miles. It feels done to me, I need to go test cylinder 5 as that appears to be the problem area. Sounded like lifter tick the last couple days. Today about 5 miles out of work...it started feeling like a cylinder or two weren't firing. Limped it home and near the end..it was two foot, lucky to keep it running...limmmmmping.

What an awesome Regal though. Got me home. (I did renew AAA membership on the way though )

I was contemplating what to do this morning and figured, I'll go NA. A junkyard about 30 miles south has a lot of L26's that they sell for $295. I have my name on one from a Lucerne with 46K miles on it. Will head down tomorrow and scoop it up.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Survey says!!!! No compression on cylinder 5, didn't check the others. Spark plug looked fine though. Don't ask ... I'm the master of achieving stuff "that can't happen".

NA because I don't need a race car or even a fast car. I was looking for an NA car to being with, SC just happen to come along first with a good body. I had engine or trans covered if I needed to swap it. Had all the suspension on deck as well as many other things. I'd prefer to run regular fuel and be kinda slow, it's more reliable.

On the subject of turbo, it might happen. I had prepped for it originally with the 1.9 rockers. If they are still good, they'll go back on the new motor. I expect this to be running again, very soon.

I like my low mileage topswaped L26 block. Hasn't broken a rod or anything yet! I keep trying.

Interesting discovery. I put the springs, seals, retainers and rockers on about 35K ago.

    Notice the valve is low

One of the locks is sitting on the head

The other lock is mangled in the retainer

    Rocker survived fine overall

Not sure how a lock pops out.

so the valve never dropped? or is this a catastrophic failure? aka Mr valve meet Mr piston?

Valve is down.. you can see the top of it in the middle of the spring..and it's not moving. New motor is in already.
