Well I was exaggerating. I think I did a nono and didnt know better. when I did my elbows red coolant leaked out, and I added green back in. But like 6 months later when I did my tstat it was green so I think its fine.
nice score on gas,

Kroger lol. Saved $0.50 a gallon.
may sound like a dumb question but whatever.. what makes the power steering scream? like what is it doing? and what do you do to prevent it from happening?
low fluid, or a dead pump will make it whine.
Well it's trying to move fluid that is like honey. Could be low on fluid or over filled and it's aerating the fluid.
PS pumps just like to complain while cold, sure many never make a sound but alot do. Even new pumps will whine when cold.
You could try removing some fuild and putting in a conditioner if you wanted, not sure if it will help or not.
its not for my GP.. asking for a friend. has a Geo and the thing has to whine for like almost a minute and then once it stops whining he has power steering.. and he asked me why it does it and i was like.. i really don't know.. told him probably should get it flushed and it'd probably help. so when its whining.. thats the belt or what is whining.. cause you could smell rubber smell
I bet that geo has a belt tensioner that is either loose or bad. Get a new belt and adjust it as needed.
The pump is applying a bigger load on the belt when it's cold because the fluid is so cold, once it's warmer it can spin the pulley without slipping.
Yeah, that sounds more like a belt slip than a whine. When mine whines the power steering still works fine. If the belt would slip, then the PS wouldn't work for sh!t.
so... tighten the belt??
Just order some parts![]()
