seen that years ago on OCC american chopper. they did the money bikes wheels, fenders and tank that way, 100 dollar bills. i was just as blown away, cool stuff for sure. the carbon fiber looks almost real too.

And then there's the factory coating that is several layers and quite tough(to get off)

Alright kids! This is what I might have to do to my car. My dad says if a car is taking longer to turn over, the battery isn't the first thing you would look at.
I say, the car is taking longer to turn over than normal, 10 second cranks, and the battery is original from 06. I'm thinking battery?

check batt voltage, 12.4-12.6 resting is good n healthy, you could check the voltage on startup also. but if you car is taking longer to crank its most no tlikley the batt but something else for sure. Is it getting spark? Is it getting good fuel pressure?

If it is cranking for 10 seconds, the battery is fine. A SLOW crank is where I would look at the battery.

Could be fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator leaking off pressure when the car sits. Try priming the pump several times before starting next time.

    Nope!
Once it actually starts it runs smooth. It's like the initial fuel delivery is messed up!
I am going to be doing plugs and stuff though within a week

what he means is, turn the ignition on, and the fuel pump will build pressure before trying to start it, might have to turn the ignition on and off a few times.

Drove it to the boyfriends house today and parked it next to my old car.

The girls sitting pretty with each other

Then I made it sit out in the yard and watch me work on this 'gem'

Lee traded this straight up for his 97 Grand Cherokee....I am still failing to see how he thought this was a good deal.
It's rough, its a 99 Silverado, as base as they come and very very dirty, very very rusty, and has some major paint issues.
He asked me if I would be willing to work on it with the PC, so I figured what the heck, I can get more practice and not have to worry about it since he is just selling it afterwards. He got it all fixed up and now just the paint needs help. We went in thinking it wouldn't work, so I just washed the door panel and tried a 2x2 section. To our surprise, it brought the paint back to life. I can't figure out whats wrong with it, but it is extremely oxidized or something nasty. Only the front fenders, all 4 doors and the passenger side bed panel is bad, rest of is is shiney brand new looking. So off to work I went until I ran out of product.

I didn't get many before pictures, but here is what I got.
    Befores:

    50/50 shot:

and a few of how I finished at the end of the day:

Not to bad for a reflection shot:

I got the drivers side somewhat done, still needs a few more passes and a follow up polish and wax done. Passenger side hasn't been touched.

My orange polish pad hated me be the end of the day, but the truck does look a bunch better. Made me feel good that I could turn such a nightmare of a paint horror show around.
