What did you do to your Car today?

those pliers work better than anything else sold, if you failed at it, you did it wrong. you grip the filter where it meets the engine, same for the loop type, any where else is a fail. or potential fail.

ive owned every filter wrench under the sun over the years. those pliers are the best way to go. they dont slip, you dont need to figure out how to put it on the right way like the metal band type. those cap end wrenches aint bad, but dont always work so good. as its on the soft part of the filter.

Fixed my shifting issue. 1-2 shift @ 6300 ripped the tires loose and pulled like it's never pulled before. Second time I stepped on it the is broke I think. Towed it home with my minivan

Finished up the front end on my mom's car. Put control arms in both sides. It now has everything in the front replaced except for wheel bearings. Only had one bolt break and that was the ball joint pinch bolt on the drivers side. Of course it was the very last bolt I went to break free too. Every other bolt came out without much issue.

A quick trip to the hardware store and everything was back together. She just needs to get an alignment scheduled now and hopefully won't go through tires like nothing anymore.

I did it three times in one afternoon and it worked every time

I still have to do it every time because I lost my filter wrench lol

99% of the time i dont need the filter wrench.

how your supposed to install them is oil the rubber seal with new oil, then snug it, then 1/4 turn more, thats it. mine come off by hand most of the time.

Mine come off by hand everytime.

But your talking to Mr. Asian Persuasion. Who likes to cross thread, overtighten, and break bolts.

Do your own oil changes and hand tighten them and you'll never have a problem

I've used my belt as a filter wrench

Found a pair of torque star wheels for my regal $50 or best offer with good tires....:-)

Diagnosed a rear VC leak, I think. The Whole back side of the engine is wet, and it goes pretty high up. That's where I'm going to start, at least. If that isn't the problem now, at 150K it soon will be.
