i used the cheapest of the cheap. i used turtle wax heavy to medium liquid compound and meguiar's swirl remover/wax. i used the aggressive yellow pad, and leaned hard and moved slow, in 2 foot square areas, worked the product in till it was dry, wipe it off, repeat. i think i was doing 10 passes per square, so 5 times up and down, and 5 times going left and right alternating up/down, left/right with a 50% over lap on the passes. each area i spent like 5 minutes or more easy.
the wax i used a large foam pad, no need to lean so hard, just worked it in till it was dry, same way N/S, E/W wiped it off, and repeat.
i think i washed out the pad 3 times during the whole job, as it would start to slinging product around from build up. my brother said it was normal and said to wash it out.
Yeah, I went thru 3 pads as well.
2 white ones for the polish and 1 for the sealant.
I have become a sucker for Poorboys World stuff.
It's amazing and low cost for such a great product.
The G6 was the first time I ever used the PC and the Poorboys stuff and I was beyond amazed.
i didn't wear out my pad at all, its still got lots of life left it in. but there are different grades of pads, from very aggressive, to medium and fine. and then the foam pads are real soft, for the wax. i may splurge for 2 more grades of compound, and get the last 2 cuts done soon, the good stuffs like 30 a bottle, and by the looks of my brothers cars and trucks, they work well. he uses the porter cable almost every 2 months or so on his yukon.
this pic was taken in end of jan, of this year after a porter cable run on it . nut job....

Hit 90+ in the training area back roads drafting off a tahoe while heading to PT formation at 0545. Lovin the Overkill PCM.
Replaced a motor mount bracket I snapped, top motor mounts, and a vacuum line I think was causing my 0440 code.
Had my rear rotors turned and replaced the pads. The pads were worn to nothing and one pad was broken in half.
Finally got the battery in the car, plumbed half of my IC , did some slight modifications to my cobra IC res and installed it behind the driver side cross brace.....pressurized fuel system and found a small leak at the fuel filter, trying to seal that up as we speak.
You can type and fix your car at the same time you are quite a talent lol
Started to hear an Awesome CLUNK when i put the car into reverse while parked on a steep hill... me thinks a mount is busted??
stupid ? ... but did you use your e-brake?
nope, no ebrake on
Drove it to work.
Dropped the spoiler off for paint.
Filled it up with gas, after it jumped .20 cents.
Washed it.
Attempted filling the p/s fluid.
I must really love that car today.
yea then your mounts are on the way out the door. me thinks.
Well figured I'd get in on this thread.
Started putting transmission back together with a complete stage 1 rebuild from tep.
Picked up cylinder heads from the machine shop.
Got tired of working on the trans and shifted over to cleaning the engine block up for assembly.
That's about it for tonight. I honestly forgot how much I hate doing transmissions.
