I spent an hour just buffing the hood and the bumper. I am pleased with how it turned out. ^ I will be cleaning my interior today too. It's a little dusty from sitting all winter long.

Nice Nate^^^^^
Yesterday I pulled the car out about 25 ft and said F it ...I love the line and thats my story and sticking with it.
Got the steel stick and cemented the D2S 3.0s, the followed with the kwik weld

Stuck a 6 foot level on the cutoff and they are spot on.
My only concern with the D2S projector is it seems to be not the most weatherproof bulb to housing connection.
The Bakelite bulb base inserts into the housing followed by a spring then a nut. There is no o-ring to keep moisture out.
I am thinking a section of a bicycle inner tube around the connector area with zip ties will do it.
I picked up a master cylinder lid "gasket" since mine fell out last week into the abyss of the engine bay and I was unable to locate it. Advance has it in the Dorman section if you need one yourself.
Yeah I was suprised when I researched my opponent's ride before challenging it. Of course I found out the bland little coupe was one of the fastest ones they made. I counted on missed shifts and yep he missed second but still ate my GT's (pic below) lunch with a few broken rocker pieces. We now just assume the GTP is faster, lol. So the Honda will last.
seperate Q-
I know I should be shot for ignorance, but I still can't figure out what wheel "pregen" is. What is this style called? Are these more socially acceptable than torque stars?
http://i807.photobucket.com/albums/y...ps11931bbc.jpg
I love my TQ stars. Those look like 97-99 5 spokes. 94-96 grand prix wheels are the other style.
So people call these five spokes? Alright, thanks for clearing that up. My 99GT has those, the 99GTP has torque stars.
I like the torque stars too. When I drove the GT I wished it had them but lots of people like the "five-spokes" better. The guy in the Honda says I need to try painting a torque star black and see how I like it. I have extras to mess around with but to me it sounds cheesy. Anybody here done that? Seems like it wouldn't go over well. I would not use plasti-dip, lol.
Those are fat fives. I cleaned the interior pieces up in the caprice. I'm really taking a liking to that car now. Would make a good DD.
Fat fives? OK-are there any other AKAs for those? So far I recognize- pre-97 cross lace, fat five spokes, torque star, and 40th anni's. Just trying to nail down the names in order to speak intelligently.
I take it Torque Stars are generally the favorite. Man those 40ths are ug.
Added in some coolant since it overheated and overflowed after a hard ride back home from the Dells last night. Taking it back to Wis Dells in a few minutes again.
Also considering selling the GXP and selling the Comp G after I find an engine for it so I can get a Cruze 2LT (manual) or LTZ. I do a lot of driving and driving the GXP everywhere isn't wallet friendly. Either that, or a G8 GT.
You would sell your GP's for a Cruze? WTF are you thinking?
As for me, I dropped the GP off at work and picked up the work truck to try to take care of the scratches I put in it in my "off-road adventures" on Friday. I am doing it all by hand so my arm is killing me right now, but the efforts are already showing after just doing rubbing compound. I only did the rubbing compound over the whole passenger side and a few other areas that needed some aggressive work. Taking a break now and going back out in a few to do polishing compound over the whole thing.
I'll probably give it a quick wash after that and think about waxing it. I think I may hold off on the wax though because I am probably going ahead and buy a PC from autogeek so I will end up going over the whole thing again with polish in a week or so anyway and will just wax it then with the PC too.
Two of the torque stars I have must have had some badass wheel cleaner used on them a long time ago. It almost looks like they were sanded, its all hazy. I have two good ones that I will replace those with. I never had a set of 40ths though, mine has stars on it.
Just changed oil in the GTP. For the sake of conversation, and I know the DIC is bunk at least not credible up in the GPf- I use Valvoline MaxLife High Mileage 10-30 and AC filters, usually 30% oil life on the DIC is 4,000 miles. Thats was it this time too. I drive 40-50 miles under 50 MPH with over sixty stop lights every weekday and the DIC MPG is rock solid at 20.8 on this car. Dips into 20.7 when I play a lot or drive angry. The old GT used to knock down 22+ on the same drive. The 40th GTP was around 21. Blah blah blah. Vacuumed my interior yesterday ... having no passenger seat is working out pretty well. I haul parts more often than people.
The OLM is bunk at best. When I was driving 17 miles one way to work (of which about 12 miles was a highway/bypass) I was basically losing 1% of OL every 100 miles. At the 5000 mile oil change I was usually at 50% oil life or more. Granted the OLM is decreasing at a greater pace now that my trips are much shorter, but I would still never trust it.
Yeah I wouldn't trust it any farther than I can throw it. But it seems to be a consistent reference after having put nearly 75K miles on these cars, when I check it vs actual miles.
It was disconnected for the entire project, so that was about 10 hours or so. I was also just reading your thread on you solenoid\hardened 4th shaft install. It's very informative, and is currently saving my ass, thank you for it very much. I live in a small town so I'm trying to order everything I need or could need. My car has 230k on it, but I think the transmission has been replaced or rebuilt at some point, it's relatively clean on the inside. I had the pump off to replace the TCC PWM solenoid and the shaft looked fine, which is another reason I think it's been repaired or something of the sort before. I might still replace it anyways, just to be safe. I'll swap out the PCS and 4th shaft as well, but I was thinking I should have some clutches on hand just in case the ones I have are pretty worn. If I can get everything shipped in by this weekend I'll do the install then.
You should have seen the SE/40th rims on my dads before we scrapped them. Pitted so bad they wouldn't hold air for a few hours.
I never trust the DIC for oil, I just change it every 3k any how because why not.
