For some reason this quote immediately popped into my head:

...but x2 on making sure you handover that badboy to a local LEA...
What state do you live in? If CA, NY, or states with similar rules on guns then report it. If in Ohio there is NO REGISTRY. Nobody would be looking for such a cheap gun. They sell for under $200. Lots of people keep them under their seats and forget about them. Some even go as far as to slip it under a tare in the carpet.

Yeah that pistol looks like a Lorcin or something. A model citizen might drop it off at the PD, it could be evidence but then so would the car. Got a deep river nearby? Toss.
Sandman, I'm jealous. Which kind did you get?
Guz and Speedy- thx, its the difference between whine or no. The slots could also be cut out on top with no real drawbacks and I may do that later. But the current arrangement lets me have my cake and eat it too. Was that worthy of a write-up for the forum, maybe ... "stock airbox whine mod"?
Kyle-osaur, my square flip is next too. We are on the same page!
Well we have a how to for gutting the stock box already, that's the normal way to do it. That's how mine is, if you remove the headlight you will see it's all open, and still takes all air from the very front. I'm assuming you left the baffles in and only put slots because you didn't want that much sound?
Aw Ok I figured there was already something. Never looked, I'll search that up. My objective was to add whine where there was none, but without adding hiss. I accomplished that. Its not quite loud enough on whine but theres no hint of hiss. I removed the screw in baffle right behind the slots, see photos again. I had all three sections of the airbox out and yes the intake air enters behind the headlight. Again, this was to add whine. Not an attempt to gain performance. This way my air filter and computer stay cleaner in comparison to an exposed filter element arrangement.
Already did it on the old GT, you do have to man up on it a little but its def worth doing. Seems like I remember a good bench vise makes it easier? I was gonna look and see if theres a way I can limit total travel somehow for free. Like a torque chain to help mounts last on a hot V8 stick car. But not a chain, lol.
I just took the DB off put the bolt back though it tighten it super tight lubed the the rubber with wb and pushed forward with 2 ratchets and it rotated. Computer will be fine anyway, that hiss might just be the IAC.

I made a video for that, nothing but a socket/wrench needed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qAZJ4xxcLyI
And yeah mine is completely open so it's very close to as loud as an open cone. I hear the hiss only when the iac is open more than the normal amount for a normal idle. So only when there is a high idle do I hear it. Other than that it's just engine noise at 1/2 throttle and up. And no gains are expected from what I meant by all air is from the front, it's just that you mentioned it so a small portion is taken from your modded slots.
Yeah the whine I did not like was what it had when I bought the car- a cone filter with no tube of any kind just clamped to the TB and the IAT sensor hanging from a zip-tie. You could hear it cold idling half a block away. Heck my neighbor lady complains because the electric fan on my 69 kicks on after I park it, and her bedroom is about twenty feet from my airbox as I exit the garage. I figured that keeping the computer connector covered was for me, since theres so much dust and pebbles making it into the area.
Hmm- nap or flip squares? Time ...will tell
Yeah it is pretty loud when it's opened up completely, but not loud enough to bug me since it's temporary. You can still hear it with a stock box though.
I made this video, and on the startup you can tell mine's gutted by how loud it is at 8:31 but at 10:09 it's silent.

Getting ready to swap some motors. Will update with mass breakage later.
NavyBlue thats a mighty fine vid. I think when I did it (maybe 2010) I got a how to from 3800pro. And I may have done it with them off the car during a radiator swap, hence my vise comment. Hell I'm doin them today. Was thinking about trans mount too but feelin too lazy for the jack.
Yeah thanks, I try to keep it simple. I haven't touched my lower mounts but they look alright. If and when I do I'll try and find solid rubber mounts instead of the hydraulic mounts.
had the joy of pulling this off my car today.. RVT blue.. i needed a gasket for my GXP spoiler i have and my dad insisted that it would work... and it did it was just blue so it looked horrible. when trying to pull it off i swore i was going to snap the spoiler in half. that was the worst idea putting that stuff on there. i wrested for it for at least an hour before it finally came off. now i dont know how to get it off both my spoiler and off my paint.
rub the rtv with your finger, it should roll off, once you get a piece to grab it may just peel off.
next time just seal around the bolt holes.
