    2007 GP Base 205K miles.

Hoping someone can help with this. I don't think the transmission is the issue, but the gear shifter inside the car just slides back and forth like it's not attached to anything. Is it possible that there's a cable that snapped in there somewhere? Or the shifter mechanism is broken? My son dropped something off at a friends house, put it in park, and then when he got back to the car the shifter would just glide back and forth and he could not get it out of park.

    TIA
    Jeff

on the trans under the master cylinder is the cable end. its clip breaks. you can pop it back on and get it going again.

I slipped the thing back on to the top of the transmission, and now we're able to switch thru the gears. However, the plastic clip is broken, so I'm sure it will come off again. You wouldn't happen to know the part# for it, would you? I looked at Napa and it doesn't look like the same part.

Just curious. Is there a way to remove the little arm so that you don't have to reach under there to install the new bushing. It's a pain in the ass.

you can unbolt the bracket that holds the cable, and there should be a clip that holds it in the bracket. not sure how that works tho. last time out i just took the bracket off. was doing a trans swap.
