I have a 2004 comp G. . When I accelerate or brake I feel what I can only describe as a Jut in the steering wheel. It feels like there is play in a tie rod or something but I am told all is good. I also have a baseball card n a bike spoke sound when I take long radius turns. I think this is a separate issue but maybe not.

My mechanic says he has come across this in the past and he has changed tons of parts and it never solves issue. I am not sure what to do.... I have read about strut bolts and possibly starter...which just seems like an idea odd cause and effect.

Car is in great shape so I really want to do what ever is needed. Your help is appreciated.

The card sound is a CV axle, no doubt. They always click when they go bad.

Tie rods and such are easier to check. If he hasn't ever found the issue than maybe its something less common. Intermediate steering shaft perhaps?

I actually just changed that because I thought would fix problem....It made it a little better in some areas but clearly not completely solved.

Too much play in sway bar end links? or possibly sway bar is cracked? Is it only specific to turning in one direction?

My preferred way to check CV joints is to raise the front end (safely of course), disable TC if equipped, and accelerate while holding the brakes to induce a load in the drive line. Obviously don't hold the brakes so hard that the wheels can't spin, you're really just simulating driving up an incline. Turn the wheel to lock while doing this, if the CV is bad it will start clicking like mad.
For thine is the Cam, The Piston, and The Rod, Forever and ever (or until they break). Amen.

On the steering feel of the jut. Have the steering rack to subframe bolts checked. Sometimes they like to loosen up and it'll allow all parts to seem good and yet give you a feeling. Although a mechanic looking at tie rods and ball joints would pick up on the issue.

Couple of the things you mentioned have me wondering if you are going to the right guy for your car work. A second opinion may be in order.

CV check, go to large parking lot, turn wheel hard left ot right and do donuts. If it loose or cracked it should pop and crack. I dont get it, new axles are around $79 new each, you need to be able to separate lower ball joint, drive axle out and pop out from trans.
Also another frontend noize you may hear from is subframe bolts loose or worn.
