So I had turned my back on MSD wires for a set of ZZP 10.5 wires....
all because I kept somehow burning up wire #4 and I'm talking the multi angled msds for our cars....I could have clipped them better yea its true
But just when I'm like these MSD are the devil ....I get these ZZP wires and mannnnnnnnnn .....ive read it before they burn on headers .....
but those were the straight boot zzp wires......well I'm hear to tell u so do the new ones 2.....there just not long enough (the boots) ...
They're angled but that angle stops right at the middle of the headers .....and are so close, one slight bounce and they're BBQ.....I clipped the up but I tell u.....
ur safe on #2 all the way, #1 the second safest, #3 third safe but needs secure clipping ......the rest are on skillet cause of the way my headers shaped(pacesetters) ..
#5 #6 have the same angled problem .....#4 is doomed period its gotta sit on the headers ....3 days and them joints had my car misfiring I'm like sh****t .....
    .
I even tried putting DEI boot sleeves on them ..these wires are sooo close to the header that the boot sleeves acted as a bridge and were helping further teriyaki chicken and shrimp no veggie extra chicken them thangss
....so now I can see the wire ....HORRIBLE!!!!
it took my MSD with no clipping just angle them off prolly like 10 months to cook a hole in just one boot ....

but I felt the stronger spark in ZZP 10.5s ...my car picked up a lil better than MSDs did brand new out the box...

SO my ?? is HAS ANYONE EVER FAB SOME MSD TERMINALS ONTO THE ZZP 10.5 WIRES WITH SUCCESS???????????

would love to get the best outta both like they do with taylor wires

No I have not tried that nor would I. MSD are 8.5 and ZZP are 10.5. I've had both and hated the ZZP wires. They don't fit correctly. The msd wires fit but have misfire issues like the ZZP ones. Why don't you get spark plug boot protectors made for this issue??

Yea these zzps don't fit worth anything ....I was thinking buy msd terminals ..crimp them and make em fit like msds.....but you'll saying zzp wires have misfiring issues toooo ....may not be worth the time ...just thought why not hybrid these out like Taylor wires are ....

The MSD wires are better than ZZP IMO.

your looking for 31189 for ~90$, though most parts stores have the 31199 which is a few dollars more because it also includes the early style dizzy terminals/boots that you/we don't use

if your smart like us with the TR, youll leave the two spare wires in the trunk of the racecar....then youll never need em/have a cable issue again

never had a problem with the msd 8.5 wire sets. get the universal MSD V8 kit with the bendable boots for "hei" it gives you the tool to crimp em to length, and the plug end is made to bend the terminal real close to the end of plug I have over an inch of air gap between the PS #4 and the plug, boot, no protectors, been remived about 80 times.

best part is the two extra wires in the kit can be terminated to the same length as your longest one and tossed on the wall for spares/testing along with the two extra terminals (meant for the coil to dizzy wire) so you can shorten them down to replace a bad wire.

ive been testing the Mallory 14mm wires on my daily for years, never had a problem, ive replaced/found bad wires/terminals on 3 different cars with zzp/taylor wires

all zzp (1st/2nd/3rd gen/batches) I had to screw with (to be fair ive seen two sets with never an issue) had terminal issueswhich led to arcing, which led to never being fixed even re crimping the end spring

the MSD kits /plug terminals are nice, the bendable kit has long sturdy be kinked necks between the wire/sheath/center conductor crimp and the plug end, the thing has a stainless tension spring wrapped around the terminal with nice pronounced dimples. you just have to make sure the gap on the plug terminal is towards the inside of the direction you intend to bent the boot/terminal to clear #4, the boot msd label is rarely indexed perfectly so look for the gap.
their site has more info, get a tube of AGS sil-glyde

its a godsend for perfect crimps with the tool/vice, and youlll want it for the boots when you put em on the coils/plugs, they will easlily twist off even after 2 years of cooking in place, you wont even have to wiggle em (which is bad mkay) if you do the twist a gentle slight conical motion can get a stubborn one off

always let the wires curl naturally when you can, first parts off/last on during service work (I do this with the 3 perfect/minty blue coils on the TR) and always let em sit in a nice large arc.

these rules will extend any wire set, but seriously the TR wire set has been removed about 200 times, including for the 11million times we've broken the trans and yanked the engine then the trans from above.

/ schlim rant that should be put into one of the damn writups/diy help things around here, one of you assholes that ive helped should help me by copy pasting it there, I should be pulling apart my perfectly good spare trans to cannibalize the channel plate n **** for fixing the ****ing Turbo regals trans for the 11millionth time

I had zzp wires and PRJ hybrid wires. I kept the PRJ ones , but both worked for me

If you're looking for another option, check out http://www.firecore50.com/ They will custom make any wire/boot combination you request and are reasonably priced. A lot of hardcore racers/professionals use them. I have a set on my 1970 Monte Carlo with a 496 and they were exactly as ordered.

I agree, great wires! We were running a set on a blown alky 526 KB OLDS Chevy in my buddies Pro Mod Camaro and really liked them. Popular replacement for MSD wires on quite a few setups I've seen lately.
