02 gp gt. Last night while driving and stopped at a red light I noticed the front left door speaker had like a slight static noise to it. I moved the balance all the way to the left and it was definitely in that speaker. This noise isn't in any of the other speakers. They are all stock speakers. I do have an aftermarket jvc head unit with axxess swc box. I also have the factory tweeters on top of the front doors.

Could it be the speaker is just getting old? Should I recheck the speaker wire on the wiring harness to the head unit? Check the wiring in the door boot? I don't have any factory amp or any amp. Just head unit is aftermarket.

dead speaker, id go and just change em all. radio will sound really good then.

my car had the right front rotted out, the left rear was just dead, changed em all, sounds like new now. fronts are 5 1/4 round iirc, rears are 6x9.

i dont really want any expensive fancy ones... just something to listen to music to...

think a junk yard stock speaker will be fine? do any stores sell some cheap decent 5 1/4's?

haha, do you know if the plastic trim piece around the interior front door handle is pushed on or something? Riveted? Will I need to replace the whole door panel to fix this plastic piece? Junkyard today didn't have any taupe colored ones like mine yet.

I bought some speakers today and while pulling the door panel, that plastic piece just fell off. The plastic tabs or rivets on the back broke. I didn't even do anything. I hate plastic. I just bought some loctite super glue and glued it back on around the door handle. Looks as good as new and it'll probably stay on forever. I just hate breaking sh*t. I try to take care of this car and do stuff the right way drives me nuts
