I haven't had this car for a year get and I just started hearing knocking on the 2nd block. I have a genv on it. Am I being to hard on this car? I have proper oil, antifreeze. What can it be? Ive heard these are good motors to have.

I have only the gen v blower, with overkill pcm, n* tb with lq4 maf. It's a stock pulley. 4in air intake.
If you see sparkles on the dipstick, the motor is junk.
They are good engines but with flaws. One major one being spun rod bearings are a common failure.
You won't hear spark knock because the computer will pull timing to prevent it from killing itself. But if you are hearing an actual motor knock at idle or any rpm while just revving the motor, then it's likely the lower end that is bad.
Yeah it's the second I spun. The knock is getting louder. Can I just swap the crank or do I need the whole motor?
So new bearings?
Its a 3800, go to a junkyard and get another one. lol
Well I had trouble finding a blown 3800 I can find na ones though. Don't want to really do a top swap?
It does have more compression which can spell trouble at high HP; however, for this small build, a top swap is just fine.
Well I would like to do more mods to it later down the road like built heads and such. But I have the old block still which I also spun so I was thinking having that crank machined and swapped in. And if there is any upgrades I can do them and there as well.
Okay got it Well looks like I gotta look for another block then.
if all you can find is a na engine you can take your heads lim and blower off the blown engine and bolt em on the na engine, add a set of headers and off you go. a tune would be needed too. but will run ok as is as long as you keep it out of deep boost. if you get kr.
my top swap needed a degree of timing removed to be kr free on a stock pulley. gen 5 blower you may need to pull two degrees.
