Alright well I'll see what I can find around here was hoping I could get away with just machining a crank and swapping bearings. But thanks for the advice.

3800 wear funny, kinda egg-wise. takes lots of machining to make em happy campers. many have tried, many have failed after 200 miles, few succeed. just go to the jy and get one.
rocky; i'd love to tell you that spending a bunch of money on truly rebuilding/machining your 3800 is worth it....but ive gotten burned..twice....
and when i say rebuild, i mean crank turned, new cam bearings, rod bearings, main bearings, block line honed, decked, heads setup, push rods measured, etc.
and it failed before i even got it off the jack stands with a spun rod bearing. took it back for warranty, they did a repeat of the work, now im about 7k miles later... and have low oil pressure. i'm about $1800 deep into just the motor with machine work, gaskets etc..all labor myself.
go buy the $400 junkyard motor and smile.
Or get a like new l26 shipped to your door for like 800 from the scrap yard in Batavia Ohio (20 miles or less)
