after upgrading the seats, now in the process of getting the mufflers and resonator replaced and then redoing the audio system I am now looking into getting the engine pro tuned.

2001 GTP is stock, only thing I have ever down to the engine was have the oil gasket replaced and that was years ago, has been running like a champ ever since.

As of 2 years ago I now live 10 minutes from Daytona Beach, because of the nascar car track there, tuners and everyone else car related have little shops around the area, many are really good and really cheap, this is why I am now looking into it even though my car is 14 years old.

If I have my 2001 GTP engine pro tuned will I gain much horsepower if any?

also my low oil and abs idiot lights are on, nothing wrong with the oil at all, abs brakes my need fixing but I don't really care I guess.

Can a tuner fix the idiot lights problem as well?

    thanks
    Terry

Get a reptile pcm. It'll wake your car up a bit. Then you can start the modding process 🙌

Personally I would get a mod or two first, then get it tuned, you'll see more of a gain that way.

if your going to mod alot, a tune should be the last thing unless you want to retune after the mods.

From what I understand a tune on a stock car isn't going to get you much more power, maybe a few with timing.
However, it will change around the shift points and a lot of other parameters to make the car FEEL better, and more responsive.

GM engineers spend thousands of hours "tuning". If you have an unmodified engine, I doubt you'll pick up very much.

The real benefit to an aftermarket tune, in my opinion, is to maximize the benefit from other modifications you make (pulleys, intercoolers, etc.). Without other engine modifications, my opinion is that a "tune" would be putting the cart before the horse.

There is still plenty left on the table with GM's awful torque management and transmission settings.

Do a 3" downpipe, whatever intake you want, and a 180* t-stat to take advantage of the lower turn on points in the PCM.

Those four~ things will really wake the car up.
