-Preface: Maybe not the best forum to list a full size Blazer, but this site still gets a lot of views. Especially from people in west Michigan. Didn't see anything in the rules prohibiting it either.
I have a 1981 full size K5 Blazer. Was in a front end collision. I have all the parts to reassemble the truck tucked inside. 350 turbo trans has less than 10k on it. 350 engine is non running. Bottom end is still good, but something is wrong on the top end... Timing chain spins, but distributor doesn't. When that happened, I just parked it. Been sitting for a couple years now.
Previous owner was tooling down the highway when one of the trans cooler lines popped. Ran the trans dry in a matter of seconds and smoked it. Had the trans rebuilt and once it was reinstalled, he found that those few seconds of free revving the engine (when the trans let go) also killed the motor. Spun a bearing or something? At that point, the guy was done with it. Offered it to my dad for a good price knowing the trans was brand new, but the motor was junk. It was perfect for us, because my dad is a mechanic, and a motor swap on that old thing was fairly easy for us. Plus I needed a vehicle. So I bought it, we dropped a junkyard motor in it, and I drove it my senior year of HS. After that, I got a job in BR and being that that thing is only a 3 speed auto, gas was killing me. So I downsized to an S-10 and parked the Blazer. Fast forward a year later and my fiance needed a car. So I let her drive it. Without going into all the details.... That's how it ended up with a junk motor and a smashed front end. I parked it again. I fulley intended on rebuilding it. That's why I bought all the panels. But, I married the girl, had a few babies and ran out of time and ambition. That's my story...
Would make a great start to a mud truck or a nice restoration project for the right person. These things make awesome plow trucks too. Priced to move. I'm done with it. Wheels and tires alone should be worth $500 (?), and I'm guessing there's at least another $400 in scrap metal, if you went that route. Clean title, FWIW.
Craigslist price is $650. Grand Prix Form member price is $500. Make me an offer... Worst I can say is "No." Would like it gone before the snow buries it for another winter.
