Originally bought a cheap Low mile l26 (43k) to use for my build but just came across a complete l32 for cheaper than the l26..Crazy but I jumped on it. The l32 has 120k on it.
Which lower end would be better or does it matter. I know the l26 is the weakest. I already have it torn apart and was just about to put the cam in it.
The l26 will be topswapped with everything I have on my current engine genv headers, etc.(minus 1.9s) but going to go e85 and put an xp cam in it, 125# springs, 3.0-2.8 pulley pending what I can get away with, and double roller.
Leaning towards the l32 but is there that much difference in the lower ends for a build like this. Heard both stories that L26s are weak but seen builds similar to mine that are fine.
I will be keeping both motors and then swapping one of them into my 95 cutlass for a just a mild build s/c. Long term plan for the gtp is go to turbo in a year once a start collecting parts needed for that.

    Thanks!

I have no clue where you are hearing l26s are weak.. all the 3800 motors are basically the same differing mostly in compression ratio and rods and slight difference in head design IIRC. They are all strong and will take way more than you are going to put them through if you tune it properly.

Open em up, see which one looks better internally and use it keeping in mind the l26 will have higher compression than the l32.

    i would run the L32.

the L26 rods are kinda stupid. and since you're boosted just throw more boost at it and stay with a lower compression block.

I concur, personally I would run the l32 with boost; however, the l26 will take it too.

I have a l26 in the car now and I have no issues running another one. Current one chipped a piston when ic pump failed..whoops.....In doing research people say the rods are weaker cause that are made differently iirc. I like the added compression so no biggie there...leaning towards l26 since its already on the stand ready to go..lol.

Rods are weaker, you shouldn't notice with a mild setup
