what color smoke? does it keep smoking out the tail pipe, or just after star up?
the po128 could be the temp sensor, its under the t stat. check the wires to the sensor plug as well.
and of course you going to need to change the fuel pump sender unit/pump to fix the bouncing gas needle. no fear, lift the carpet in the trunk, you will see a bolted down panel, under that is the pump.
good chance your engine needs new lim and upper intake gaskets, its very common for these gaskets to fail over time.
check your oil, make sure its only oil, not coolant mixed with it, sign of the lim failure. heres some pics, in this thread so you can see what going on. http://www.grandprixforums.net/97-03...ure-60667.html and check for cracks from the egr tube into the intake.
