    jack the wheel up, lugs still tight, then grab the top of the wheel with both hands, push and pull slowly, and firmly, if the hub is loose you'll feel it.

    you can also watch the rotor if it moves inside the pads the hub is also bad. rotor is bolted to the hub between the wheel. caliper wont move as its bolted to the knuckle.

    Would that be safe to do with a scissor jack? I don't own a regular jack or stands.
