Hopefully, this is simple and silly.

So, I've been working on my front end, including new struts (my 1st time working on suspension). Things are better, but still have a wobble under throttle. I still haven't had alignment done, and my wheels clearly pitch/camber inward. I plan on buying Camber bolts today, Raybestos #6161036. I understand the principle of the shaft cam, but I have never dealt with this before. I do no expect instructions with these, so I appreciate any help and advice I can get.

I am worried I might need to replace half-axles, and would rather try installing camber bolts in hope it corrects wobble before I have alignment done.

1st, I am wondering if I should put them on and see if wobble is fixed or have a shop install them when I have alignment done? ie, are these re-useable or 1-time use/install (does un-installing them hurt them)?

2nd, How in the heck do you install them? LOL! What is the washer with the tabs for? Do the tabs get bent around nut, or into strut bolt hole, to lock camber bolt in place?? I just can't visualize it, a simple description/instructions would be helpful.

    Thanks!

camber settings (so long as they are within reason) shouldnt cause any adverse driving effects.

they are reuseable, but i have no doubt that your issue lies somewhere else. you need to look somewhere else for your problem.

and for the install, we dont have one here...but here is a GREAT one:

Check the control arm bushings yet? I don't understand why your camber is so bad.

Rico...if he's asking about bolts, I'd wager a guess that he's lowered pretty well. I lowered on Vogtlands and didn't need to worry about it at all.

He doesn't mention if he's used spacers or dogbones to correct the axle alignment issues from lowering.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Was talking to Brandon and he has same issue...he's not lowered though.

Is there anything else that would cause uncorrectable camber on a car that is stock? The only things I can think of are lower control arm bushings/ball joints or the cradle has sagged. I think this would help a lot of people.

    Sorry, '03 GTP 127K mi.

Started w/ hot, squishy mess for suspension. Replaced front struts w/ KYB Excel G 339015--fitment for 04/07 Monte Carlo w/ Spec. Hndlg/17-18"whls. I wanted stiffer than GP setup-and so for a bonus I got non-stock camber. Put struts in HTM coil over kit.

Crazy vibration. So then installed ZZP 1/2" m&t mnt spacers--t mnt spacer holes were at least 3/8" too close together. Helped w/ vibration greatly. But then I noticed a knock, esp low spd, & when engaging trans. & I noticed play in Fr Left wheel bearing hub and cracked sway bar end.

So installed Timken hub, solid rubber m&t mounts, Dorman sway bar and end links.

    Now vibration on acceloration.

I'm being a cheap, lazy, pu$$y--my guess is I need half-axles, but I'm trying to avoid it. Just from looking at how car is put together, I could image an extreme camber could put stress on axles/CV joints. Hoping that getting camber/alignment correct will alleviate some stress on axles. I was planning on having alignment done after I got everything up to speed.

Now wondering if I should try camber bolts first, or take it to shop and let them deal with camber, or lay out the $ and change axles 1st?

Bio, thanks for link, helps to have pics w/ strut off knuckle, easier to see.

Tie Rods, LAC, ball joints all appear good, and have no movement when I tried wiggle them around.

    please define 'extreme' camber.

you can easily run upwards of -5* without issues with axles. now, tire wear becomes a concern, but that is all part of the game.

i still think you need motor mounts.

"extreme" is not best word. I don't know degree, don't know how to measure it. But the neg camber is undoubtable visable to naked eye. I put in camber bolts and see if that helps.

I do have new solid rubber lower engine mount. When you say motor mnts, are you refering to dogbones? Would inverting dogbone, as found in how to section of this forum, have same effect as new?

nah, i meant the motor and transmission mount. when those are worn the motor/trans sags lower and causes the issues youre describing.
