    if it hasn't been said yet the 2 lower bolts need to be pounded out of the strut/knuckle. loosen the bolts, unscrew them to the end so you don't mushroom the end of the bolt, and pound it out.

    dont drop it once its loose, watch for the brake lines and such. easy job tho.

    reading the repair manual...it says alignment is *mandatory* after strut replacement..i guess i am not doing it tonight as i have a 300mi drive tomorrow;

    I was also going to replace rear struts too.. is the alignment necessary again after rear struts?

    ok.....sorry for bumping an old thread, but I think it's somewhat related.
    Is this lower control arm Mad Monkey mentioned above? it doesn't look good....can I keep it like this?
    this is a passenger side.

    Thanks!

    yeah you can drive on it like that but that pretty worn, make plans to change them both. both sides that is. and then an alignment.

    Change the whole arms. They'll come with new balljoints as well. Ready out of the package for a straight swap.

    yes new arm with new ball joint and new bushings. take the old one out, and slap the new one in, that easy, you'll want an alignment after you are done. your steering wheel may be off a little bit when your done.

    the shops didn't tell me about the lca when they were doing the struts..and I don't notice any shake on highway. does it mean I can put it off for, maybe, 5k miles?
