So this has been brought up by me before and I've been thinking about it again.... I know I know....

Anyways, the theory is that the 06-07 CTS-V, G8 GXP, and '10 Camaro SS calipers (which are all identical) will fit our car. We know it will fit our car cause these calipers fit the F-body's without modification and we use F-body calipers without any modification as well (with the spacers). So with that said, we know the theory is correct. F-body guys have confirmed the Bracket Bolts are the same thread pattern and the banjo bolts are the same as that of the F-body calipers as well. SO we know these calipers can work.

Now here's where we get tricky....We need a rotor. A 14" rotor with 1.25" thickness and using a 5x114.3 (or 5x115) bolt pattern and the correct offset as well. The closest I think I have found are the Baer 2-piece rotors from a Ford Mustang setup. Now we don't have to have 2 piece, but I suggest 2 piece mainly because its a lot of weight when you get that size and our trannies are weak enough. Here is the part number for the rotor is question 261026.

Here are the links for some resources:
    F-body's using the Calipers:
    CTS-V Brake Install w/ Pics - LS1TECH

Apparently a W-body did do this...with no explanation and some really tiny ass pictures, so it seems like a farce to me:
    Z06 front brake conversion on GXP - Page 7 - LS1TECH

So we got the details out of the way....Lets talk about the calipers.
There was a time when ShopGMParts sold the calipers for $80 a caliper...NICE, but that no longer is happening (CTS-V calipers are out of production now), and they were selling these calipers for about $150 at one time...but that ain't happenin' now either. So this is the best I could find so far on ebay:
2010 Camaro SS Brembo Brake calipers - eBay (item 330526146108 end time Feb-11-11 16:01:13 PST)

and these guys have them too but with rotors (I got a quote for half the shipping but same price for just calipers no rotors):
2008-09 Pontiac G8 BREMBO Front Brake Kit - eBay (item 320615020791 end time Feb-06-11 17:45:52 PST)

So I have done some Searching for the calipers on Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market and have come up with 2 calipers for $75 a piece + shipping.
    __________________________________________________ _______

    Okay so now the Rotors....

These Rotors meet all the sizing requirements that I can find and seem to be about the best fit solution (even though they do go against my whole thing about drilled rotors, I'm waiting for someone to notice *cough*). With all that said these seem to be the best option.

The Cheapest I have found so far is
Baer Brakes EradiSpeed-Plus Two Brake Rotors

    __________________________________________________ _______
    Basic Pricing:
    Calipers - $385
    Rotors - $539
    SS Lines - $61
Pads (Hawk HPS, sorry I have a Fetish with Hawk Pads) - $124

    Total - $1,109

So what I am looking for is you guys to give me some feedback and keep an eye out for any of this stuff for a cheaper price. If we can get the price down a bit more within a decent range, I would be willing to do this.

    Let the fun begin.

Yeah, I'm not gonna lie, a set of nice Brembo CTS-V or G8 GXP style brakes would look sexy. I've thought about it myself but I'm lazy and I've stored my Icy Death Machine for the winter, lol. Good luck, and I look forward to creepin' your pics once you get it done my resourceful friend, LOL.

We will see what happens. GXPs are laying here, but I would love to be the first to actually do it and not post some avatar size camera pictures and claim I did it.

Doesn't the Charger/300C SRT-8's have Brembo's up front? I think most Chrysler's are 114.3mm bolt patterns, no? I guess I'll do some research.

    14.2" rotors...:/

If I am gonna go that big on rotors though, they gotta be 2-piece, its bad enough how much the wheels weigh.

Well wait, I thought you were looking into a 14" rotor? The SRT-8 is 14.17" by 1.26", is that slightly too big?

ahh, well I see that guy finally got off his ass and posted more pics..

    Still seems like a pain.

I'll have to look at my notes and re-fresh my brain about this. I did my own google hunt a lolng time ago but it seems it not as easy for use as the F-body guys.

I love the look of the brakes filling up the wheels too, but I never got GXP front cuz I want to run my slicks and to be honest with F-body front and GXP rear my GTPs stops pretty damn good.
98 GTP-Mods? Yeah, lots of them

This is similar to what i wanted to run.... cept C5 calipers for smaller pots.

I've been told stock 16's can clear rear GXP's...

yeah GXP rears will clear 16's.

The "general" rule of thumb is take the rotor size and add 4" and thats the wheel size you need. its applicable in most cases

AH I was waiting for you to find this.

yeah that guys pictures aren't very good though.

Anyways, an update as to where I stand

I have located some calipers for cheap (I'd rather not say price cause I would like to snag these for myself...sorry guys)

We have located a better, cheaper rotor and got the specs for it. They are off a 370z with Brembo's. 14" rotors and they are 3mm off in the offset area. As well as the hub bore being 68mm, we need it to be 70.3mm...a little machine work can do wonders.

So...all that said this looks like a go and in theory everything should work perfectly. IN THEORY

Yeah it will rub the inside of the caliper.

The z06 rotor that F-body guys use are 14"x1.25"

Ah, I see. Well...you could get a set of rims off a Charger or 300C SRT-8 but I guess that gets a little too expensive and costly...and Chrysler-y.

I'm guessing you are deadset on keeping your current rims, no?

Well a different set of 18s are on my mind right now, you only need 18s to clear these brakes.
