Thread: Not GP related: RWD disk brake rotor swap, change in bolt pattern

Not having much luck on my own, thought somebody here can help me.

What I have going on is my 1995 GMC Sonoma pick up. Its getting a LT1 swap, T56-6 speed so on and so on. The rear end is where I am at now.

I have a GM 10 bolt from a 1995 Chevy Impala SS. The bolt pattern for that is 5 on 5.

The wheels I picked out are 5-127 (5-4.75") bolt patten. So the front wheels will work no problem, (15" x 7"), the rear wheels (15" x 10"" is where it gets fun. They dont make them with a 5 on 5 bolt pattern so I have to change things to make it work.

The rear end is going to get narrowed around 11" or so, and the truck will be mini tubed. The axles will have to be cut down anyway, so instead I was going to get some pre made from Moser, and spend about $100.00 more for brand new heavy duty axles vs. modifying the old ones (cut down, and bolt pattern change) and risk it ya know.

Thats all easy, and already planned.

The trouble I am having is finding some rear brake rotors that I can use with the rear axle, in the new 5-127 bolt pattern. The e-brake is set up much like ours on our Grand Prix's where its kinda a drum brake for the e-brake.

Ideas of what rotors in that bolt pattern I need to buy so I can make this work? Some other GM vehicle by chance?

I just pulled the axle out of the garage today where it has sat on jack stands since I bought it back in Jan. 2009.


Work smart, not hard. I wasn't about to lift it, and the tractor was ready to go...so...why not. LOL

I was thinking about this last night while I was eating dinner, and kinda over thought about all this when I posted.

I think it will be more than fine to just redrill the bolt pattern I need in the rotor I have on hand. That should be more than fine, and really wont effect it much. Worse case, buy new, and do the same to them. Talking with my brother about this, he knows of a company who supplies blanks, and you drill your own holes for what you need. That could be an option too.

I think I will go that route and see what happens.

That sounds like a good plan.

Honestly it'd probably be worth it to sell that rear and get a ten bolt out of an Fbody. Or just build yours slightly. They're the same rear end and same bolt pattern.

I knew what you were meaning by the F-body idea.

The rear end will be built, I know all the weaknesses of the GM 10 bolt to make it very strong. Plus, with the over powered power plant, and the light weight of the truck, doubtful I will hook enough to break something anyway. Its going to be a street, and maybe a few takes to the strip kinda truck. I could probably get by with the stock rear end that's in there, but...why? I wanna build this truck.

Can't you just redrill the rotors to match the new axles?
