Still doesn't change the fact that the axle geometry is affected.

if you're axles point upwards then you have issues an geometry is affected. My axles are level.

Not talking about the GXP

It doesn't matter Gxp gtp gt all wbody suspension has the same problem if you slam them. I'm referring to my gtp in the previous post btw.

If I may ask, what year was this GTP and what was the setup? If I can get away from modding everything just to get it a little closer to the ground I would prefer that. I'm not trying to slam it like some silly ricer, I just want to get a better center of gravity for cornering.

This.
Also, depending on your mileage, your motor/tranny mounts could be quite a bit worn by now making the geometry even worse. The pair of solid mounts are like $40 shipped, why not just get the spacers and replace the mounts at the same time.
Re: Want to lower your car? Look in here!!
When I lowered my car I had a little vibration at first, about the first week or so. I decided to change the trans and motor mounts and the vibration completely went away. It feels like it did before I lowered it when accelerating now. Definitely do your mounts when you lower.

True....
I did spacers but being on a budget at the time I just did spacers.
The mounts looked OK but being real after close to 100k....come on.
The spacers got rid of the wobble and quite possibly mounts might have done the same thing.
Most def the ideal solution would be for mounts and spacers for the 100% solution.
Now, the next order is mounts. This thread saves the day and helps me spend money wisely

No vibration at all anytime.

97, like I said already though most vibration happens when people don't take care of other things first. If you have motor mounts and axles with 100k on them...expect that when you lower your car you will have issues.

You're on fresh mounts, fresh axles. Sure you won't feel vibrations, yet. But the geometry already changed its a transversely mounted engine. If you're happy without spacers good for you, but the proper way of lowering is with engine and tranny spacers.

Mine has about 135k on it, so new motor/trans mounts just make sense. I am replacing 90% of the suspension when I drop it, new springs, struts, mounts and rubber on all 4 corners. The only parts I'm reusing are the nuts on the top that hold the strut to the springs and one of the two bolts that hold each strut to the LCA. Got the MOOG adjustable +1.5 ~ -1.5 alignment bolts for each wheel so I don't have any surprises. I don't know about the rears, but I know the front upper strut mounts are shot, so they are all going. Also adding the strut tower braces from Summit. After I get the larger front sway bar and add one to the rear, should have a really solid feeling GTP.
Re: Want to lower your car? Look in here!!
Skip the braces, save yourself the money.
You'd notice zero difference because you are already lowering the vehicle and adding better sway bars and links.

Pretty much. I'm using speedbuilt stb's and the difference is negligible.

I plan to race this car, have some friends that do autocross, the braces help keep the suspension geometry when I'm whipping it like a red headed step child. I've heard it said it's better to over support it, I'm more erring on the side of caution. The strut tower braces are only about $130 each, so it's not bad compared to everything else I'm doing.

ZZPs are cheaper FYI

Try getting proper stb's like speed built so they mount around all 3 strut bolts

The ones from BMR sold on Summit's website do bolt to all 3 holes, which ones were you referring to?
Re: Want to lower your car? Look in here!!
quick question for the lowering gurus...i got a set of used/older vogtland spings...how do i know which ones go in the back and front? 2 are black 2 are red...thanks in advanced
