just wondering if anyone has had a similar problem with a rotaional noise from 20 mph and up (gets louder with speed not engine rpm) i checked my bearings front and rear (without taking apart) no real amount of play, all cv boots are good and didnt see anything hitting/rubbing on anything.

    any help would be great.

    thanks in advance...

sounds like a bearing, alot of time they wont have play. try swerving the car left and right, if the noise is worse in one direction it usually indicates the opposite bearing is the bad one.

Your wheels bearings should have no play! If they do, replace them.

Another thing to look at (if it's not your wheel bearing that is your problem) is your tires. A bad alignment (history), a failed or failing suspension part or the lack of tire rotations will cause the tires tread to become "choppy." This will cause noise while driving and will increase in speed as your vehicle increases in speed.

i was just about to shout for help with a new topic but since this was near the top i thought i'd just relpy whith my similar situation.

my 99 is making a high pitched whine when i turn to the left, coming from the right wheel. i replaced the wheel bearing 2x now and im at a loss as to what it could be. i know im out of alignment but the noise is not a chirp-chirp-chirp kinda thing, it is just one long whine that only happens when im rounding a turn to the left at ~20mph +. im really thinking it might be something other than my bearing now just because i have changed each front 2 times in the last month.

if anyone has any thoughts i'd be totally grateful.

taht sounds more like something is rubbing under a left turn situation, have a look for any evidence of two parts contacting each other such as clean polished metal areas
