I've been wanting to play music through my cars speakers (2006 GP base with monsoon) ever since I got it. I've been researching some and bought this

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ilpage_o00_s00

Little did I know, it didn't work if you didn't have an external CD player or XM. I read somewhere about there being a module with bluetooth and being able to replace the onstar with it. I don't mind the onstar, but if it has to go it will go. I want to be able to have a way to play music through this car whether it be via bluetooth or auxillary cord without spending big $$$. Does anyone have any suggestions?

The "BlueStar" onstar replacement is like $300 if I recall correctly.

If you have a tape deck in your radio, they make an adapter for that, but they are common knowledge so I'm guessing your unit doesn't have a tape deck.

I believe they have FM transmitters fairly cheap, which you plug your MP3 player /etc. into and tune your radio to the transmitter's frequency. I've heard the audio quality is hit or miss this way, but it's a simple solution.

Lastly, you could potentially open up your radio and install an aux jack in there. I've done this with a couple of radios. Basically, you find where the left and right audio come from the CD player (don't forget ground!) and tap into them for your jack. Then you put a blank CD into the CD player, and the car will think it's playing a CD, but instead play whatever you plug into the jack. Radio Shack has the jack port that you can install, only costs a few dollars plus some solder and wiring.

Wow that's crazy high. Yeah if it had a tape player I'd be all over that. My girlfriends bonneville has a tape deck and it sounds amazing. I'm very nit picky about the quality so an FM transmitter is out. This is my second radio (CD player went out in the original one a day after I bought it) and they are so nit picky it seems. I may consider that though.

Bluestar is mono not stereo. Not really good for streaming.

I've read where the FM ones that plug into the antenna cable are much better then the ones that don't. Wired FM transmittet

Where can I find the FM ones? It sounds like I don't have a whole lot of options.

I have an 05 Base without Monsoon and I use a box by USASpec that uses the CD changer controls to give me 2 sets of RCA inputs to use for AUX. I don't know if it would work with Monsoon or not. It works good, just have to turn up the volume. Once you get an AUX input, there's a couple devices you can plug it into to get Bluetooth. Belkin makes one.

I would do that, but that is underneath the whole 6 disc changer mechanism and I just got my second one replaced.
