I recently changed the ignition switch and after getting everything back together, the security warning (actual word not red LED) was blinking on the dash. At first the car would start for 2-3 seconds then die. This car has a PASS-KEY 3 system with the module around the key. After searching on the net, I tried the 10 minute Key in RUN position routine several times but the security warning light never stopped blinking, even after an hour. I pulled everything apart to verify my connections and after putting back together, the security warning was still blinking but now the car runs fine and has been for a week. I found some diagnostics info and measured the voltages to the PASS-KEY 3 module and they appear fine. I disconnect the PASS-KEY 3 module and the security warning stops blinking, but the car still runs fine. Seems like it shouldn't be.
I'm glad the car is running but I don't want it failing some time later in a bad spot. Could I have somehow disabled the security system? If I take it to the dealer, does anyone think that they would disable it? This way I would just disconnect the PASS-KEY 3 module permanently.
