Is it safe to assume that you have a 97-98 GTP with premium sound non Bose? If so the rear 6x9s will not work with an aftermarket stereo. You will have to splice into the wires going into the 4" speakers and run them into the 6x9s.

It has 4" And 6x9s in the rear deck correct? So you are saying that you are still using the factory deck? If so then the factory amp under the dash might have gone out.

Yes it has smaller speakers beside the 6x9 speakers In the back so does that mean it has a factory amp?

I am assuming so, the 8 speaker non Bose systems had an amp under the dash, at least my 97 did, and when I put in my aftermarket stereo I couldn't figure out why my 6x9s werent working, I even went out and bought new speakers thinking the factory ones were shot. Are you running the stock deck still?

That I don't know. Look behind the glove box maybe. I am pretty sure you can find them on ebay. IIRC 97-98 cars were the only ones that had that amp, I think 99 was when they started putting Bose in them.

Ok I'll pull the cover off and look in there and see if it has one and I thought when a amp died the sound would be screwed up

From what I understand the amp only powers the 6x9s in that setup.

Ok does the amp wires tie in with the radio harness?, mine has the plug for the cd changer but no changer, is it just prewired for one or is that the amp cause I'm buying a auxiliary kit that plugs in where the plug for the cd changer goes if that's not for the amp
