does anyone know a way to keep the clock working in the dic with an aftermarket radio like a module that transmits a time signal on the can data line?

What clock? Or do you mean the calendar? That is controlled by the factory Head unit and when replacing with aftermarket you will lose that function, no way around it. Besides you should have a clock on your new radio anyway.

sorry yes calendar and i'm looking at an x940bt so it has a clock, i just hate losing functionality, i wonder how hard it would be to come up with an ic to transmit the date on the can bus. has anyone tried or have any input?

I remember seeing a write up a year or two ago on how to keep the calender, and it involved keeping the stock radio hidden in the trunk with wires run back to it. I can't remember specifics like what wires to tap into though, if I manage to find it I'll post a link.

Probably power ground and a can data line, im thinking we can probably make due with just the main board of the radio.
