No power after radio removal

Like it says, I took the old Alpine deck out, found the previous owner had done the install right and not cut the harness up! I figure hey, this will be an easy job. Attach the new Pioneer to the connector the alpine had on it, plug it all in, aaaand... nothing. And not just no power to the radio, no power at all on the 12V wire all the way back to the factory plug! Switched 12V works fine but the constant 12v wire (yellow on the aftermarket harness, orange on the car) has no power at any time no matter where the key is...

What could have possibly gone wrong??

Oh, and it's not the fuse. Already pulled that out and it had 0 ohms on it...

There's another radio fuse under the hood if you have a GP. Check that.

According to the manual the only radio fuse is in the glove compartment.

Found it, but that fuse also checks out fine.

So you removed an Alpine deck, and installed a Pioneer deck but didn't change the harness adapter? Could be the issue right there. If the Pioneer uses a different pinout then you will have to get a different harness to match the new deck. That or the existing adapter harness is damaged since you have power at the factory harness. What happens if you connect the old Alpine deck again?

The harness I saved was just the pigtail which plugs into the factory plug that would go in the back of the factory radio. I matched the wires on that up with the ones on the pigtail which came with the Pioneer. And last I checked, there is very little power on the factory plug and glove box fuse (my meter reads a few mV) but the radio fuse under the hood has 12V.

why not just do a add a fuse and run a new power line to the radio?

I did like the way it used to stay on until the door was opened... But if I can't figure this out that may be what I have to do.

Oh, but that probably has to do with just the remote wire anyways doesn't it. hmmmmm

re use the radio fuse should act the same.

Plenty of voltage at the radio fuse under the hood but (basically) none at the fuse inside the car.... Just makes no sense.

theres more then one power source that stays on after the key is off and before the door opens.

power port for one.

I'd need a constant for this though, otherwise I'd never keep radio memory.

you can run the memory line to the battery or other full time hot fuse in the fuse box. stuff like the power windows work till the door is opened too if the power port is full time.

the ign fuse should be hot full time. you just need to poke the fuses with a test light key off door open till you find one that has power.
