    Hello.
I have a 2000 Grand Prix with the radio display shot.

How do I get the dash off with breaking something so that I can get my radio fixed?

    Thanks!

the radio has a removeable face when you get it out. take the face off and pull it apart. you'll see the bulb attached to a circuit board (right behind the display). take a pair of needle nose and twist left. you'll see how it comes out. good luck and let us know how you make out.

here is a website for you to look at what i described about the bulb. hope it helps out. the bulbs on this site are $20 ea. (kinda expensive), i'd suggest going to a junkyard and taking it out of that one first to try out on. good luck.

    if you are interested:
for $10 plus shipping I'll send you my OEM cd player (working when I pulled it), has 7 band equalizer. from 2000 gt

    Has 2 minor issues.
    1) Volume knob isnt 100% functional, have to rotate it a little extra sometimes to turn up/down, but works fine with steering wheel controls.
    2) display sometimes flickers/dims, but works fine most of the time.

OK, So I ordered instructions. According to "them", you take off the panel over the emergency brake, then the panel under the steering wheel, then the panel around the radio. I planned to do this next week but, believe it or not, the display in my radio started working!

    Merry Christmas!

If I read right, it seems all that you want to do is take the deck out and do some work on it? Well, I'm not too sure how much difference there is from my 99 SE and your 00, but I recently took out the stock deck for a pioneer I bought and the dash front just came off in 1 piece and I didn't have to take anything else apart. It seems like it might break because it's on there so well but just be firm and don't force it and make sure you tilt your steering wheel down and take off any screws underneath the bottom of the dash front, I think there is 3-4. Make sure you are very slow with getting it over the steering wheel because it looks sturdy but once it's coming off that thing is a lot thinner than you might think. I didn't have to touch anything in the center console. I just put the shifter in first gear so that it was completely out of my way.
