Do you have new speakers to put in? Or do you still want it to play through the bose amp and speakers?
When I did mine I just tore everything out and put all new in. It was cheaper to do at the time than buying all the adapters and not having to run wires from the headunit to the bose amp for every speaker.
The easy way would be to get the adapter. I ran all new wires to the headunit when I did my install, took a while.
i dont want the bose amp to be the amplifier i use. i want to run the speakers off a new head unit. can i buy the adapter and just remove the amplifier and reconnect all the wires that run into and out of the amplifier?
what year? onstar??
2001 gt with onstar
Personally for me, at first, when I got my Pioneer 6000 HU, I used the Bose Amp in conjunction with the Pioneer's output. I just tapped into the wire on the Bose amp and walla. It actually sounded pretty good, but of course I upgraded to "real" amps a few months afterwards.
But if you want to use ONLY the HU's amp to run your speakers, you most certainly can. You will lose your onstar, but with your year model, they, GM, has phased out OnStar analog service and you can no longer use it anyways.
Don't bother with one of those kits that will save your Onstar features. They are way to over priced for what little you keep. The only thing you are going to lose by bypassing your Onstar is some of the more annoying chimes. You will lose the chime that alerts you to when you have left your turn signal on and it has failed to automatically flip off. And that frankly is the only thing I have noticed a difference in. I still hear my turn signals "click" when I use them, and my door chimes still work when I open the door with the key still in the ignition.
The base model plugin runs about $25 bucks. Here is a picture of mine when I coupled it to the Pioneer's connection.

I would go that route^^^
When I did mine I put in all new speakers and completely rewired everything to the headunit. Took about a full day since it was my first install like that.
The bose sucks because it has no bass, all highs. Go with the new headunit for now and if you still want some bass get a sub before you start tearing out speakers.
