Ok in my '02 Camaro Z28 i have Monsoon and i was able to track down one 2 ohm Kicker CVT65(6.5" woofer) and nobody else has one that's not a 1 ohm. The guy i ordered the other 2 ohm from told me that he didn't actually have an 2ohms in stock and only had a 1ohm left. The Monsoon in the Camaro requires a 2ohm and i'm curious how i can get the 1 ohm to work if i had to go that route... I want a 2 ohm but they are next to impossible to find them...

The 1ohm is going to require amp that can handle that low of impedance. There is a big difference between 2ohm and 1ohm for sure.

Ya knowing how many voice coils is good too.... it doesn't matter what the subs impedance is really. It all comes down to whether or not the amp makes the most power at 1ohm or not.... most of your lower end amps will not be rated for 1ohm. Only higher end/ comp amps will be. So to answer your question you can run a 1ohm sub on any amp... it just won't make as much power then if you run it with a 1ohm amp.. make sense?

Oh damn I just saw that you said you already have a 2ohm sub... you neverwant to run two different impedance subs together. Or two subs with different voice coils...basically you want the exact same sub as the other if you are going to run two.

it's a SVC not Dual so i can't wire them down to 2 ohm like i was hoping. I cancelled the order. It's getting wired into a stock monsoon system in my Z28. I have the 2 ohm already in the car and it sounds really damn good(bass wise) over the stockers that were back there. I've always been told that you can run a higher ohm speaker(2,3,4 etc) on an amp that is say compatible with a 2ohm(or matched to a 2ohm) but not say running this 1 ohm sub unless you can wire a pair to 2ohm. eh, it doesn't matter i'm cancelling my order anyway... lol Thanks guys

Yes you can run a higher ohm sub to a lower ohm rated amp no problem... the other way around is where you will run into issues... an ohm defines the resistance of electricity through a path... so a lower ohm rating means there is less resistance, and in turn more electricity will flow through said path. Which for speakers and amps means more power is used by the sub and drawn from the amp.
