Hey everybody need some advice. I was wondering if I could add subs to my car without going through the hassle of buying a new cd player. I already have the subs and an amp. I have a 2005 gtp with the monsoon sound system. I love the sound I have now but I would really like a little more bass. I'm not looking to be heard a mile down the street so is there another way to get more bass? I noticed there is a little amp in my trunk and I didn't know if I could tie into that somehow or if that will just ruin it. Any help would be appreciated.

Well honestly it can be done by tapping into the rear speakers and adding a pac module that allows u to run a rca cable for the amp...truth be told its not worth it the money. Your better off getting a aftermarket cd player and then adding subs..allowing better sound out of your stock speakers and allowing you more control over subs.

Edit: i think its called a line out converter.

correct on the line out converter, i used one for about 6 months before i saved up enough for a different HU, believe me it is worth it to get a different HU

the line out converter is about 20 bucks at wallmart

Yeah I wanted to avoid buying a new head unit at the moment. I like the way it looks all stock. But thanks for the tips, I'll check that out

I tried the whole subs with the stock Monsoon system thing a few years back because just like you I like the stock look until I realized I had virtually no control over my subs or equalizers. Bought a Alpine cd player made all my speakers sound that much better and finally had control over the subs I wanted. Of course I ended up gutting the whole Monsoon and going completely aftermarket after some time.

Did this in my buddies 2001 GTP It was a big NOPE, the factory volume limiter would kick in and make everything quiet.

Amen. Plus IIRC I couldn't turn my bass all the way down. Took 2 weeks to budge and go aftermarket. Of course this was 4 years ago. I never looked back.

I guess I'll just bite the bullet and buy a new head unit. you think it would be worth it to pay the extra bucks to get the adapter so I can still use my steering wheel controls?
