Thread: Rear speaker problem

I'm having a problem with my rear speakers in my 98 GT. I changed the 6x9's out and not the other little ones in the back there. I also changed out the factory stereo out to a after market one. The problem I thought was with the factory speakers they were crackling and what not so I put some kicker 6x9's in. Then they were fine for a while but they just started to crackling the other day after having them in for about a month. I have the base down and the settings on the radio down so that shouldn't be the problem. So I would like to know if any one had this same problem before or knows what this is? And does the 98 Gt's have a factory AMP? I would like to get this fixed so I can listen to the radio with out messing out my speakers.

I just looked because I wasn't sure if I had the bose system in this car or not and it doesn't have it. So I have no idea what could be the problem with the rear speakers. There is no AMP in the trunk unless they put it else where. Because I pulled the carpet out of the trunk and looked. So I still need to find out what the problem is with my speakers.

I listen to it not really that loud at all.

I had this head unit in my sunbird with these speakers. I took them both out and out them in the GP because the speakers were totally shot in the GP. This crackles at any volume not just high volume but at 0 volume as well in tell I shut off the stereo off. This happens with the factory CD player in it as well. I might just go get some speaker wire and replace it all in the car. But I don't want to do all that and have the same problem you know.

Wonderful no one knows what this could. I know my radio is working and the rear speakers are fine. This car does have the 8 speakers I have no idea if that would have anything to do with it or not. But does not have the Bose system in it.

Man Im dumb. I found out that the 6x9's weren't even working I dont know why tho every thing is hooked up at the head unit. So is there a Y thing that makes all 8 of the speakers work? If there is I think mine is bad or some thing. Because I don't even see where the color of the 6x9's wires are hooked up at the head unit.

No I didn't find the problem. I found out that my 6x9's where hooked up just not getting any sound to them. But the little 6" or what ever they are were getting sound to them and they were blowen. So I just spliced the 6" speaker wires to the 6x9's so I had some sound in the rear of my car for now. I'm going to take my amp out of my Sunbird and put it in my GP to run my 6X9's then get new 6"s or what ever size they are and rehook them up the way it was when I got the GP. In my GP there must be a wiring problem where the 4 wires meet to the 2 that come off the head unit or some thing.

Thanks! I did that too I just swapped the speaker.

Ok I got the same problem those little ones in the back do not work but I know they are good I tested them with the connector from the 6x9s and they worked so if I am getting this correct, I can just splice into the 6x9 wires and power them and the 6x 9s off that?
