So just recently I was driving on the expressway doing around 75 & hit a small bump and at that speed it felt like a big one. It wasn't that big of a deal but when I looked at my display that shows your mpg & oil life I could not see it at all it was completely dim. When the sunlight hits it I can barley see what it says, has anyone else had this problem & how do I fix this?

The car is a 1998 Grand Prix Gtp 4 door with 119k on it.

are you referring to the Heads Up display/HUD???

if so, it probably popped a spring, easy fix, look around for HUD repair threads.

Mpg, and oil life.. He's talking about the DIC - digital information center.

Sounds like you have a bulb loose, or burnt out. There's a few threads on here about removing the DIC and replacing the bulbs. Could also be a connector, either way if you pull the dash trim and remove the DIC you'll get it figured out.

Smack the dash hard and see if it comes back.
