    im putting a pioneer deh-p7400hd head unit in, along with alpine type r component door speakers and 6.5" kicker subs (this is for my trans am, subs will be place in the sail panels.) the rms ratings (or as advertised rms ratings) are 110w each for the doors and 150 each for the subs. so total thats 620w. peak ratings are doors- 330 each and subs- 300 each so 1260w in total.

    so to sum things up
    i need a amp
    total of 1260w peak power
    total of 620w rms.

    thanks for the help guys i kinda know a bit about car audio but there gets to be so many choices and so many different combinations it gets to be a little too much for my knowledge. i also am trying to keep the price of the amp down to maybe 150 tops, if needed ill exceed that but im really trying to keep the money in my wallet ya know?

    Budget? Are the speakers 2 or 4 ohm? In any case, it seems as if any amp that can do a clean 100 watts into each of the 4 channels (100x4) @ 4 ohms will be your best bet... assuming that all of your speakers will be 4 ohms each. As for the max ratings... ignore them lol. You'll also want at least 2 of the channels to have a LPF (low pass filter) so that you don't feed those subs anything higher than they need.

    EDIT: Here's a solid choice, but just a suggestion. http://www.amazon.com/Lanzar-OPTI100...1256055&sr=8-3 Generally, I'd never recommend Lanzar, but the Optidrive line is well-respected in the car audio world (I was surprised too lol).

    forgot to include the ohm information lol yes both sets are 4 ohms each, good assumption! i was looking at lanzar then was like no, this stuff is crap lol but everything else is just so ridiculously priced. and like i stated as far as budget im trying to keep it less than 150 for the amp, for everything else that im already getting im looking at 435 and thats before shipping and before the small stupid stuff (antenna adapter, wiring harness, amp wiring kit, and a possible steering wheel control adapter.)

    the other thing im worried about is these amps state they push out these tremendous amounts of power and you dont know what to or what not to believe ya know? so thats nice and misleading too

    Yeah, I know what you mean. Most Lanzar is absolute junk... no doubt. However, the optidrive line is known for doing rated power. There are plenty of options in your price range. I don't know that anything will do 100x4, but there's no need to go right up to the rms of your components. Let me do some searching and see if I can find something that may suit you...

    Also, for wiring, I'd highly recommend www.knukonceptz.com . A nice 4 gauge kit will be more than enough for you, and will keep you from having to upgrade in the future if you decide to run a small mono amp to power something small in the hatch... perhaps a single 10" or 8".

    It's definitely a budget amp, but it's not crap. It has a suitable crossover network to suit your needs. The Onyx series isn't as "beefy" as the Discus series before it, but it's still a solid performer, and should be more than capable of suiting your needs. If not, there are other amplifiers on the site in your price range. I'm sure some other members will be able to offer more assistance. Good luck.

    I almost bought a kit from knukonceptz until i read that they use CCA (copper clad aluminum) which is not as good as straight copper. The best kit I could find for the money which worked for me was this kit made by Kicker.

    Knuconceptz has both CCA and OFC wire. I have this kit in my vehicle Knukonceptz product detail for CLOSE OUT - IXOS 0 GAUGE POWER KIT which is only a couple of bucks more expensive than the Kicker 4 gauge for 1/0 OFC. Kicker uses silver tinned copper, which is extremely nice... but pricey. Here is a 4 gauge OFC kit 4 Gauge Amplifier Installation Kit . Knukonceptz is a very wallet-friendly place to acquire wire for your car audio needs. However, honestly, in his case, I seriously doubt the difference in OFC and CCA would really be of any significance. This is a common topic on car audio boards, and I prefer OFC, but for mild power levels, cheaper CCA will work just fine.
