i got a interforce scan gauge i got the dtc code p0520 but the question is why didnt the check engine light on the dash of the car come on??

Check the bulb in the dash.
DTC P0520
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The engine control module (ECM) monitors the signal circuit of the engine oil pressure (EOP) sensor. When the oil pressure is high, the sensor is open, and the ECM senses a high signal voltage. When the oil pressure is low, the sensor is closed, and the ECM senses a low signal voltage.
CONDITIONS FOR RUNNING THE DTC
The ignition is ON, with the engine ON.
CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DTC
•The PCM detects that the EOP sensor signal circuit is pulled low.
•The above condition is present for greater than 5 seconds .
ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
•The PCM records the operating conditions at the time the diagnostic test fails. The PCM displays this information in the Failure Records on the scan tool.
•The instrument panel cluster (IPC) illuminates the engine oil pressure indicator.
CONDITIONS FOR CLEARING THE DTC
•The DTC becomes history when the conditions for setting the DTC are no longer present.
•The history DTC clears after 40 malfunction free warm-up cycles.
•The PCM receives a clear code command from the scan tool.
DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
Using the Failure Records data may help locate an intermittent condition. If you cannot duplicate the DTC, the information in the Failure Records can help determine how many miles since the DTC set. The Fail Counter and Pass Counter can help determine how many ignition cycles that the diagnostic test reported a pass and/or a fail.
but the light comes on when i turn key on.... cleared code with gauge how many miles or cycles for it to come back on
goin to leave gauge unplugged till it kicks the light back on
it means you have low oil pressure. check your oil level. if you cleared the code, but didn't solve the problem, the light will come back on the next time you drive your car.
if you have the right amount of oil (4.5 quarts), then you probably have a bad sensor
if there's no condition to set the code, a.k.a. you put oil in it, then it won't set again. the oil light won't come on until there's only 7psi. i've hit it a few times and my engine was fine. if it's not making any knocking noises, you're golden
