    I'm planning on buying this
Radio Stereo IPod IPhone IPad Audio Input AUX Converter | eBay

my question is if I install this will I be able to switch songs via the steering wheel controls or still have to use the ipod/iphone to do the switching.

2008 Grand Prix btw Nothing special just a base model. Stereo has the aux input button.

Also where is everyone putting their cord for the ipod? I was thinking about running it through the bottom of the center console and bringing it in between the seat and console but I'm also thinking about drilling a hole in the storage compartment at the bottom of the stereo console on the dash. Pics would be greatly appreciated. I also need to hide it for a bit as this is going in the wife's car for xmas.

I ran mine through the dash and the cord snakes up through between the center console and dash. Tucks cable in there nice and clean. I also have a Zune and not an iPod though.

    And I'd get this one.

Supposed to show song on CD player and wheel controls still work... might want to double check though.

    What part of central KS?

That unit does look good. Another question I have is does your audio come through during a call? This is for the wife so I'm up in the air on either doing this install and maybe later getting a bluetooth setup for the vehicle or just buying a whole new head unit. Problem is I don't want to spend a bunch of money at once.

Also another thing does this kit charge your zune while you are using it as well? That was one of the upsides to using the other kit I posted as well.

Yeah the soundgate ones charge while playing. I dont know about the calls, Im sure it would as it plays what would be coming out of your handset. And if you get into aftermarket headunits... it gets to be a headache. You have to buy additional wiring harness to keep steering wheel controls and chimes and onstar and all that. Another 100+ bucks on top of the head unit.

    I used this one:

    http://www.amazon.com/GM12-AUXV2-Adj.../dp/B000MWHH0M

Got it as a b-day gift, works but won't charge your ipod & no steering wheel controls. I like the looks of that soundgate. Might upgrade to that and put mine in the gf's Grand Prix. The factory radio will display text there are a couple of radio stations that broadcast song title/artist and it shows up on my '08 & the gf's '06.
I know what you mean about putting in a aftermarket head unit what a pita they've made it. Not hard to do but all the extra crap and all the stuff that wont work when your done.
