Hey Guys, I'm looking for new front speakers to replace my broken ones. Well one is broken so I figure I will just replace both. I'm looking to only spend around $50. More Bass would be nice but I know bass is almost non-exsistant especially in 5.25 speakers. Here is what I'm looking at:

    Polk:

    And

    Pioneer:

Hey guys, I'm thinking about going with the polks. I have 1 question though. How do I wire my new front speakers to the car? Seems like the tweeters and lower speaker are physically seperate. My problem is with the stock tweeter causing major static, so I do not want to run anything in parallel, just everything from the new speakers. Thanks for the help.

When you pull the door panel to swap out the factory speaker you'll see the wire for the factory tweeter, just unplug it and wire up the new ones.

sorry but you are wrong.... i called crutchfeild and best buy. Both said to run your woofer wires into the crossovers that come with the new speakers, then run from the crossover to the new tweeters... i thought it sounded funny when hearing it but it works properly. The stock crossovers will not handle the new tweeters good

I'm not sure if you guys understand the question. I am transitioning from the stock "component" speakers, tweeters and mids seperate, to the all in one polks with the mid and tweeters built in.

Depending on the speakers it may not be a downgrade. He is moving from factory speakers to a high quality coaxial set, which will completely blow the factories away.

Coaxial speakers do have some benefits, one is that high- and low-frequency sounds originate from the same point in space. This "point source" delivers the full range of sound frequencies in correct phase alignment, resulting in a smoother frequency response and improved clarity. This is a good thing considering most people who install a component set will mount the tweeters in generally poor locations, not taking into account speaker phasing and imaging.

I'm a super noob as far as audio equipment is concerned. Just wondering what all that coaxial stuff means? Can I just Plug and play into the wires that are already there?

Use the wires that are connected to the large speaker (woofer) to connect to your new speakers and just leave the factory tweeter wire unplugged. You will want to make sure that your new speakers are in phase with the other speakers in the car. If you get one speaker out of phase you will get a reduction in the systems bass output. There are several GP wire charts on the net just ind one and put + to + and -to -.

A coaxial speaker simple means the sound radiates from the same point, with the high frequency drivers mounted in front of the lower frequency driver
