The wiring harness is to give the ballast good solid current and ground. Instead of pulling all the power from factory small gauge wires, it's pulling straight from battery. And is also good to prevent frying your stock wiring harness. I run a 55W and 35W without a wiring harness for over a year, and never had any issues.

i gotcha, makes sense i guess. pulling that wattage with such a small wire. does the slim ballast just mean the ballast is slimmer i assume, is that a big deal?

The slim ballast is just that, A slim ballast. Its supposed to be smaller than the normal ballast meaning you can tuck it away alittle better. I went with the slim ballasts from the get go and tucked them away niceley. I dont see where there would be a problem with the normal sized ones though. There is plenty of space behind your headlights to put several ballasts. I have 2 on each side and have no issues.

ok thats what i figured, just seen the slim one was a little more money. Once the projectors come and i get them in, im gonna do 55w 10000k on the highs and 35w 8000k on the lows, does that sound like a nice setup? i want the blue look but i want enough light to see
