    Pictures of my new system!

    The crappy stock system

The new system (The amp is actually 500w, They gave me a different box for some reason.)

    New 12" JL Audio 12W0v2-4

New 8.3" In dash DVD (PTID-8310NRB). Everyone that sees it for the first time is like OMG!

I love my new system and it sounds great! I have to thank the guys at Stereo-In-Dash.
They did a great job and really stand by their work.

Also. I have dynamat installed in the trunk and around the speakers so I don't get that terrible rattling noise.

does the flip out touch the big vent right above it?

Nope, the big nob on the right (seen in pic #4 in closed position) lets you adjust the screen so it doesn't hit the vent. It will remember the position you set so it never hits the vent!
My specific screen is the only one I know that will do that too. Not saying i'm an expert on them, but the 7" I had before knocked up against it every time.

I doesn't hit the trip computer or the buttons, but it does block them. That doesn't bother me because if i'm watching the screen i'm not watching the trip computer anyway.

would the hot air blowing in from the main vent over heat the headunit in the winter time?

I want to say they were 79-89 each, not including the box or install.

    Their are 250 RMS each.

    I think my amp is a 500/1v2 (500 W RMS @ 1.5 ohm - 4 ohm (11V-14.5V)), but I don't know for sure without looking at it.

Not if you keep the vent closed.

If you're replacing stocks, yeah sure they're decent.

    Overpriced though.

What do you like for resonably priced 5.25/6.5 2 way components?

    its not what pleases me.

its whats pleasing to YOUR ears.

I found the JL's to lack where most small drivers lack. Midbass.

Also the high end was harsh between 8-15 kHz and non existent above that.

The harshness most likely was due to the Alpine deck they were paired with.

Fair enough. I've been wondering what kind of music 1800collect and yourself listen to that make you want to take car stereo to a level of insanity, this is infact a serious question not sarcasm.

YouTube - Iron Maiden - Hallowed Be Thy Name (Studio Version)

If the average SPL is below 100 dB C weighted and it hurts your system isn't good enough IMO.

Wasn't expecting Maiden. I've always been fine with a simple front component, rear coaxial and single sub set up running the comp's and sub off a nice 4ch with plenty of deadning material. Guess I'm just not that picky, which is great since I'm already broke, no need to get anymore hobbys.

I spend more time listening to metal than any other genre.

Getting picky costs money.... Hence putting the audio thing on hold for a while.
