My CDA-9887 was $429.....got stolen...man I was pissed. I fricken loved that thing...looked nice, had lots of options, sounded awesome. Only thing I didn't like about it was it wasnt compatible with my iphone but that's not why I bought it so it didn't bother me A LOT, just bugged me.

And whoever said the 3 types of outputs, it's front, rear, and sub, sometimes the rear and sub are on a switch with each other.
lol...thats what I meant. (sub, "F" and R) I've never been big on proofreading.

I got rid of mine in favor of a DEH-P880prs.

I didn't like the top end of the Alpine AT ALL. I moved things around and tuned for 3 years...finally gave up I really like the snap of the mid-bass but the midrange of the Pioneer is fuller and it's smoother at the top end. Glad I switched from the 9887. Unless it's pre-china I don't think I'll be going back to Alpine. Their CDA-117 sounds the same as the 9887. When I was listening on a board it had the SAME response issues as my vehicle. That's no good I preferred the Kenwood x994 over the 117 when I was doing a/b comparison with 3 sets of speakers...Hertz HSK-165XL's, JL's top of the line and some middle of the road something rather. 117 had same problems with ALL the speakers. JL's were my favorite of the group. Might try them if I ever get over my a/d/s/ addiction

I plan on getting some translucent photo film to place over the LED's in the face plate so the knobs and buttons match the interior lighting. I'll leave the display white though. It also illuminates in blue. I'll take pictures of it if requested.

For the record...I think the 9887 looked better. I also used their KTX-100eq and didn't like those results either.

yo if you could post photos of how it looks with photo film that'd be great. I was looking at that one as well, but I really wasn't sure that I liked the white ya know?

amen on the non japanese alpine, and alpine is not all that. i had a dva 7996 and a 9813 those were real alpines, always wanted the xl face 7998 though. pioneer and kenwood make good units and new sony is back making ok units. but for daily non comp, no unit is bad imo.

but heres some unfinished pics of my raggedy car

i had so many different setups

i forgot i even had this nav setup
