In the how to threads there is a post on there about hooking up a 4th brake light using a 24" LED strip. I am thinking about hooking up 2 12" LED strips to the brake lights so that they come on with the brake lights then blink with the turn signals. My questions is has anyone done this?

I've been thinking the same thing... I was looking around the NET, and found this pic of Geddy Lees car (a moderator on here). Curious as to if this acts as a 4th break light

i think you can just cut into the power wire coming from one of your taillights and it should work.

I'm wondering if the strip it would actually get BRIGHTER when you press the brake, or would is just stay on.

Im calling out Geddy Lee!!!!!!! lol.... id really like to know how he did this, and if its functional

Here's what I did on my old Monte, just wired them into the brake lights. I never wanted it to be used as turn signals

I wanna hook mine up to the turn signals as well. I just didn't know if it would cause a hyperflash like the LED bulbs do or if it would just work fine. Looks like I am gonna just have to test it and see what happens.

IMHO it would look ok if the two seperate strips met together. When theres a gap it just looks off some how

The ones on my Monte would have matched the tail lights better but I already tinted them and they were dark as hell. Like dark to the point where you could barely see them light up in the day time

I was behind a big dodge truck the other day and had one solid red line under his tailgate, and one half flashed with his turn signal (so obviously two 24" strips laid together) it looked pretty sick. Ill be doing this for sure once it gets warmer.

they make strips that do that already that are one piece. you can find them all over the place. its just how they are wired that makes the difference.

That's the fire and ice bar. I think chamilton89 installed one on his. Looks nice but from what I found they are pretty pricey. I got the 2 12" strips for free from a buddy that was going to use them then decided not to. Hopefully this weekend I can get the car in the garage and get them on.

i did mine, but i wired it to the third brake light (high-mount) so that way itd only go on when i hit the brake, i didnt want it to stay on while driving or go on with the turn signals although i couldve wired it that way if i wanted bc my set up is two 12 inch led strips with their own wires, they were sold together in the same package, i just put them end to end and ran the lights behind the normal brake lights nd thought where the wires go. Then i added on a long strip of wire to the positive and negative wires and then rand them all the way around up to the high mount brake light nd tied them in

Well I got mine hooked up over the weekend. I was able to hook em up to the brake and turn signals. They don't come on with the lights so I am golden. The install was pretty easy, only problem I ran into was frozen fingers. Gotta love Northern Illinois winters. Soon as the wife finds the camera I will have to get some pics.

    Nice work ejrjr, looks good!

Yep I did that on my gt, haven't yet done it on my gtp. Not sure if I will or not.
Wired it into my third brake light, wasn't after trying to make it work with the turn signals. Though, I may do that in the future, the extra light is kinda nice when you have dark tinted tails.

thanks lofty, it was a little messy going all the way up to the third brake light, i might rewire it to the regular brake lights just to simplify things, i dunno about the turn signals tho, i feel like thats a lil much for me but thats just a personal preference

Could you unscrew one of your tail lights and show how you wired them up?? It would be much appreciated!!!

I will definitely do so. I just used the snap wiring splices just to do it quickly cause it was cold out so, I need to take them apart again to solder everything together.
