ok weird problem. amp is hooked up to my speakers and is getting power but no sound. now i hooked up an ipod to the amp directly and they played perfectly so the problem is obviously from the headunit. i checked the rca connections and they all seem fine. im using a kenwood excelon x794 for a headunit. any idea what could be going wrong. also the factory amp is still hooked up (monsoon system) and the factory speakers still play perfectly so I'm even more confused.

the factory amp is still hooked up and works fine. i have determined that the problem has to be from the head unit to the new amp.

also the amp is a jl 300/4. i don't know why it wouldn't pick up sound from the head unit though. does the head unit need to be told to transmit sound through the rca's?

sometimes it seems like the remote on wire don't put out enough power so try hooking up your remote on wire to your ignition hot wire from your radio it should be red

The OP said that the amp is getting power so I wouldnt think the remote wire would be the problem. I had a Kenwood X994 that I had the same problem with. My problem was resolved in one of the menu's. I dont remember exactly what it was, but there was something in there that had to do with the amp that I had to turn on or off. Its been about 4-6 months since I've messed with it and I cant remember what exactly I did. But I do remember I got in the menu and I changed something.

No on the kenwoods, the rca's should always be putting out power. The menu thing that the last poster was referring to is, you can turn the internal amplifer in the deck on or off depending if you are using it or not. as for the problem, switch the rca's around and see if you have a bad set. That's about all that I can think of at the moment.

The setup was in a Ford F-250 Super Duty. I had the Kenwood X994, Kenwood 6 1/2" slim components up front, and a Sundown Audio Zv1 12" subwoofer. I had a Rockford Fosgate T400.2 on my components and a Rockford Fosgate T1500.1bd on my Sundown. When I installed it, I did it all at once and I didnt have any output. I fiddled with something in the menu settings and that fixed it and I had sound. I just cant remember what it was. I switched that deck out for an Eclipse 5030 b/c i liked it better. I sold my T1500.1bd on craigslist and got passed $420 in counterfeit $20 bills, but thats a story for another day/thread.
