I've already got plans to change the stereo in my car once I get off house arrest, so this should be an interesting project.

    What I got right now:
    Sony H/U
Alpine Type S 12's in ported box
    Alpine MRP-M650
    Dual XPA4640 mid/high amp
    Scosche wiring

    In the works:
    Keep Sony H/U
    2 Audioque SDC2.5 12" Subs
    3/4" MDF 36x16x18 tuned to 35Hz
    Audiopipe AP1500.1D
2 Dual XPA4640 bridged (one front, one back)

The reason I'm going two Dual's is because I have one in right now & my friend left his with me to sell, but he hasn't asked about it in months, so I'm going to use it. Figure ~150w RMS a speaker is better than 50w RMS anyways lol. My dad's buying my X-Box 360, but instead of giving me cash, going to order me an AP1500.1D, 1500w RMS at 1 ohm. (It does do true power, seen quite a few clamped reviews).

This won't be anything starting tonight, as I'm still on house arrest, but my dad does have the wood & is going to cut it for me tomorrow, so it should be interesting. I'll build it here with my stepdad & pull my Alpine's and test it out, then when I sell the Alpine's order my Audioque's and wire them up. Should be a lot better than what I got now. 850w vs 2100w FTW ^_^

    Keep tuned. Any suggestions/comments appreciated

Good news. Amp is on it's way from FL, and hopefully my SDC's get shipped out today. Wood's cut to basic panels, just need to get the tools over here so I can cut the holes out, and cut the edges of the wood, since I'm going to try a simple "puzzle" try to put the box together. If not, just means I'm out only about $30 (single MDF FTW)

Will post pics and news as it comes. Need to find some screws to put in my second Dual amp for the power/ground, but I should be good.

Finally, some pictures for feasting eyes. Not much yet, but it's a start.

    Pieces when they just arrived

    All together, marked out

All the tools used to measure the pieces out.

All while watching a car ten times better than mine :'( I'm jealous.

No compass? Easy! Find a few sheets of paper, a drill bit, paper clips, and you're done!

Not exact, but nothings really perfect! It's a 12" subwoofer, so 11.5" diameter should be okay.

Spent two hours in flurrying snow with a jig saw, a twelve pack of Cherry Pepsi as ballast, a couple of towels, and a permanent marker. For an half assed job, no sanding yet, and no prior experience aside from a 2cuft sealed box that was about ten times too big for the 12" sub. Will sand it down later tonight, but probably not glue until next week when I get my speakers. Until then, more box pr0n.

    P.S. Cherry Pepsi > Coke

Is not. Coke has a nasty aftertaste. Cherry Pepsi has amazing flavor.

I'm now actually thinking about doing a blue/red false floor/carpet setup. Hmm....

    Nice work!

I woulda measured the subs though. Makes life easier.

Though last time I did this I was flush mounting.

Like the puzzle piece style joints as well.

    Glue and screws?

Thanks. Well, AQ's site recommends a cutout of 11.1875" (11 3/16") so I just went with about 11 1/2", it's not the full 12 and should hold the speaker fine. The puzzle pieces are a bit more of a pain in the ass, although I did just do it with a jigsaw & not a table saw like I should have but hey, make do with what you got on hand, and it came out half decent.

Screws are in already, putting pics up now. Probably going to remove them & use liquid nails or something then rescrew & sand. Dunno what I'm going to coat it with, carpet or paint...I'm leaning towards a carpet readily available because I'm going to get a batt & make a false floor/side wall assembly perhaps...It's all in the plans.

    Moar box pr0n

Screwed box together, came out alright for my first real box. Top/bottom about half an inch short depth wise, back piece doesn't flush straight on the bottom piece, but nothing some liquid nails and chunks of wood couldn't fix. :P

And for those wondering, no I'm not high, I've been up 24 hours straight as of now. Woke up at 4PM yesterday, didn't sleep at all last night, so my sleep schedule's all jacked up. Doing this today though will probably help it.

Moar presents! As soon as my grandparents showed up, my dad did too, with my new amp!

A box from the UPS man..

    What was inside.

    What could it be?

Hmm...I'll be the judge of that

    Opened box

    Caps FTL. Batt's FTW

    Out of the box.

Fuse holder. Better than the current Scosche one I have. ^_^

Bass knob...may use it, may not...

Front view of the bass knob. Complicated?

    The crown jewel itself

    Speaker/Power terminals

In order: Power/Protect light, input, bridge input, gain, LPF, subsonic filter, bass boost freq, & boost gain

Revealed & in the open. They look embarassed. Lol
