Earlier this week, I scored a couple bose speakers from an 00 GTP in the junkyard, the two front ones. First the front right one didn't work, maybe I didn't connect it all the way, OK, but then this morning the other front one(left) went silent as well as the rear left one? ? Great! Now I only have 1 speaker working. Rear speakers are stock as well as the cd player. Before I go tearing everything apart again, is it just a fuse somewhere? I'm no audio expert but swapping a speaker or two never hurt my other cars...

So you were trying to put 2 Bose speakers with a non bose system? You can't do that, they won't work. You need the entire Bose system, wiring, amp to make it work which in the end is not worth the trouble.

u sure it won't work? as long as ur replacing a 4 ohm w/ another 4 ohm, should be fine. I had an old 1990 Olds Eighty-Eight that had super small "AM-radio quality" front speakers, replaced them w/ 2 from a 1990 GP, worked great! Is there something different electronically about bose speakers? All I wanted was to replace the blown stock ones.

As far as i remember Bose speakers are 2ohm which is over driving the amp and is killing it.

You cant replace 4ohm with 2 ohm unless the device powering it is rated for a lower ohm. But you can place larger ohm speakers in its place but your not getting all the power you would if you used the correct ohm.

i suppose a 2-ohm resistor on each one would fix that. By the way I got these speakers for basically nothing and they're better than stock. I traced the problem to broken corroded wiring. That happens when wire is made on a Friday before a long weekend at the wire factory.. corrodes itself inside the insulator. I know if I wanted a boomin sound system, I would get the whole setup amps and all however in my opinion...here goes... subwoofers are a bit too "donk" for me.

you could get a litte 8 or 10 inch sub and stick it in the truck n push a few undred watts for nice sound without being donk

imma bout to do this soon to save my door speakers since the front ones are crackeling

I had a friend who put something like 2 14" w/ 600W twin amps in his old windowless chevy van. It was funny the looks we got in the "more urban part of the neighborhood". Personally I would love a full-range 5.1 system in my car. Maybe when I have a couple extra $1000 laying around...

For $300....you could probably find a used amp and some nice speakers. But that's just for mids and tweets up front. I'm a fan of a/d/s/ Hell I even have 320is and 325is I'd let go for $75. Audio doesn't have to be expensive. People just presume it is.

I have scored pretty good at the local pawn shop in the past. When u see wires cut instead of disconn properly, it probably was "borrowed and sold w/o permission". But I guess thats how they can sellu a nice deck for $40. I'm gonna go back to that junkyard tho and pick up the rear bose speakers just so its all balanced, the front ones still sound much better even tho its not a full "bose" system

    a/d/s/ 6.5", PX concept.2 T ads 346is 4ohm orion BEST! - eBay (item 380269570767 end time Oct-15-10 10:33:29 PDT)

When first released...~$1200 or so. They eventually settled around a retail price of about ~$800 I believe.

Either way, those are new. Not the same cross over, but really...active is much better in a car. Most guys I know just cut the wire. Too much work desoldering. Are they worth $250? That's arguable. It all comes down to paying for that piece of cake you enjoy. To some, price isn't an issue when indulging.
